Kysumu

Perspectives. Given the right outlook any situation could be perceived in a way preferred by evil or good. Any person could justify their behavior with rationalizations and excuses, but the question still stands to which is the correct perspective? The self-image of the individual or how society and others view them?

This is the context to which Kysumu struggles through his life. The tools and back story is all there for him to be a cruel and monstrous individual, but his desire to conform to honest and casual lifestyle among others demands a relent of such acts. Does he give in to his darker side and terrorize those he interacts with or does he stay restrained and give his best fanged smile of innocence?

To get to the awaited point, Kysumu is a vampire. Fairly traditional in most regards as the mythos go, though he does cater to a unique situation that affords him some privileges. Namely, he has been a personal guardian/trusted friend to a family line for generations. This linage he helps mentor and supervise over the ages has provided for him certain gifts and trinkets to aide his eternal task. Most important of which is what is called a 'Daybreak Ring'. This item, always worn by Kysumu, renders the effects of sunlight harmless upon him. ( Though he is noticably weaker and 'out of it' under direct sunlight. ) Second is a wristwatch called the 'Timepiece of Renewel'. Stake him, he'll survive through it, though immobilized until the stake is removed. Makes him a stubborn little bastard to get permanently rid of!

Now how does all of this pertain to his duality of character? Either he can be the monster that vampires are renown for or continue to be the cynical deviant of typical late-20something males tend to be. The urge to ravage and harm confounded by humanity that stubbornly refuses to let go.
