"You have a lot of potential. If only you weren't so damn lazy..." These were words that Kyo Jentera has heard all his life. His parents, his older siblings, his teachers, and even some of his managers. That he could easily succeed in life if he just applied himself and put in just that little bit of effort. If he had a quarter for every time he heard those words, he wouldn't Need to apply himself in order to be successful. From very early on in life, Kyo realized that expectations were high from him. His parents both held lucrative positions in the Medical and Technological fields respectively, he had 3 older siblings who all seemed to have bright futures ahead of them. Hell, his oldest sister was essentially getting a free ride into one of the most exclusive and reputable universities in the nation. It never made any sense to him. Surrounded by such talented and hardworking people, Kyo seemed to be the first 'failure' in the Jentera family. He was a straight "C" Student all throughout his life and he had no intentions of changing that no matter how much he disappointed everyone around him. Everyone deemed important for his future was given the bare minimum. Because of this, it came as no surprise that the same opportunities offered to his older siblings weren't extended to him when Kyo finally graduated High School. Afterwards, he was essentially kicked out of his family home and left to face the world on his own. He was forced to share an apartment with someone he barely knew, and struggled to have a stable income. Every crappy, entry level job that someone could think of, Kyo probably worked there at some point.
One would assume this would make the young man absolutely miserable, envious of his much more successful family members. But surprisingly, he hardly seemed to mind it at all. He wasn't a ladder climber and he knew that, and being out in the world made him realize that he did indeed have skills, just not what was expected at him. While he wasn't particularly interested in academics, Kyo found himself thoroughly enjoying his interactions with other people. He was exceptionally perceptive when it came to social scenarios, able to pick up quirks and cues from the people around them to try read what their true thoughts and motivations were. He had a natural charisma paired with his decent looks that got him plenty of chances in life. (It absolutely played a part in how he was able to be hired so easily). Still, it wasn't before Kyo found himself growing bored of modern life's mundanity once again. As if to answer his prayers, a chance encounter with a strange woman wound up changing his life permanantly.
The strange, suited woman introduced herself as "Ishtar" and seemed to know exactly who Kyo was despite the two never meeting before. What's more was she was offering him a job. One that not only paid well, but ensured that he would "Never get bored for long." He couldn't read like everyone else and he couldn't even tell if this offer was legitimate. Whether it was curiousity, interest in this strange woman, or a desire for a change of pace, he found himself accepting her offer. What happened next was probably the most shocking thing to ever happen in his life. She gently took his hand, slowly opened wide, and shoved his entire face down her throat. By the time he processed what just happened, it was already over, and darkness enveloped his vision for what seemed like an eternity. When he woke up, he definitely didn't seem to be in the stomach of that woman. Instead, he was in one of the most expensive hotel rooms he's ever seen in his life, with a tailored suit and note left upon it's King sized bed. "Get dressed whenever you wake up. Take the elevator outside to your right to the my office. Welcome to your new career and your new life." -Ishar
The Next few days were absolutely imcomprehensible. He was far away from his home town, instead being relocated to a place that everyone simply called "The Nexus." After being digested and subsequently reformed by his new boss, he noticed plenty of changes to his body. For starters, His eyes and hair had turned this striking mix of crimson and violet. His new work attire came with a pair of playing cards that he was able to inexplicably flick hard enough to cut through steel cables. Strangest of all was being told that he Couldn't Die. At least, not permanantly. Apparently, people swallow eachother all the time. It's just kind of accepted by the general public. Being able to come back to life after being on the wrong end of a fork would absolutely come in handy. Finally, he was told about what he would be doing. Ishtar just so happened to own and operate the Paradise Lost Casino and Hotel, one of the largest of it's kind. A paradise for the fun seeking inhabitants can come gamble, drink, enjoy live shows and naturally; eat one another. It was surreal. Beyond Surreal. Yet... it wasn't terrible.
