Yeah? What do you want?

You really can't blame him for being a bit testy, though. He doesn't sleep at all. Not really. And there's only so much one can do on catnaps. Sooner or later, you need a good eight hours. Still, even so, he gets along well enough. He just needs a BREAK. Twice a week isn't enough!

Still, that's what happens when your family has ties to the supernatural community. His mom and dad were both.... well, sort of sheriffs, for his home town. More like Bailiffs, charged with keeping the peace more than solving crimes. Their job was to keep the supernatural residents from doing things they shouldn't, like, say, eating the faces of whatever humans look tasty.

Naturally, they died. Got themselves killed taking out a particularly nasty demon, as it happens, and, well, saved a lot of people. Of course, when they both died, their responsibilities fell onto his shoulders. And, frankly, the only reason they didn't have the same problems he does are simple. Neither of them was required by law to go to school for however many hours a day, and, well, there were two of them! One of them could take a night off more than once a week, and Korvus, well, can't. This is, in fact, their fault in a way.

When they died, their powers came to him. Their responsibilities as well. And, as well, their ghosts and familiars. Everything. So, it's not like he's /lost/ anything except sleep in the end. If anything, he's gained enough to almost make up for it!

See, his new job? it comes with perks. The contract that established the position in ages gone has some stipulations, making it easier for those mortals who take said job to actually DO it. With his parent's abilities comes a measure of their learned skills, superhuman strength and durability(under certain circumstances) and an innate knowledge of magic. As well, there IS a little less need for a full night's sleep, and a little bonus, thanks to his parents. They, well, renegotiated with their 'employer' on his behalf, making sure he won't be dying until he's ready. That's a better deal than his parents got, at least so far.

So, by night, Korvus has his job. He has to take on monsters from time to time, in hand to hand brawls, at that. Not always, only if they get out of hand. Even so, it's an all-night job, as he also has to do a certain number of patrols a week, and, well, generally make his rounds, letting the supernatural community know he's about and on the job. He's mostly meant to take care of problems between mortal and supernaturals, and most often these are problems with monsters eating people. Sometimes, though, the supernatural residents need someone to interact with mortals on their behalf, as well.

At the same time, though, his parents have their own requests. Who ever heard of being haunted by their parents to complete school? To do their homework? To go out and meet girls!? Good grief! And they're probably one reason he doesn't get as much sleep as he'd like. Seriously, three hours a day is a lot for him these days, and nowhere near enough for a seventeen year old high-school senior. *sigh*

Even so, he soldiers on. He manages to keep a B average with a little help from friends and family, as well as sheer bloody-mindedness, and he manages to be friendly enough with his classmates. At the same time, though, at night, he gets to take out all his stress and aggression when something steps out of line. It's not perfect, but it'll do. It'll have to. And, hey, on a good night, he can even go to parties with his friends. It's a fairly rare occurrence, but he enjoys it when he does get to go out, particularly if there are girls. He IS a teenager, after all.

As for his abilities, in more detail... he doesn't know what all he can do! He's learning what he can do, and discovering new things all the time. And, well, some of his newfound abilities are just odd... enjoyable, and interesting, but still just odd. Why would he need to eat people, or anything like that?

Meh. It's a living.
