As the rise in technological advancements came to a fever pitch, more and more items were made digital, and thus, prone to hackers and glitches. Some have taken up arms, and become part of DH, or "Data Hunters". People who specialize in exterminating digital anomalies with specialized weapons and anatomy that lets them dive into digital spaces. Kokomi signed up for this program becase she thought it sounded so cool.
No, no glitch or anomaly killed her family or friends. She just thought that she'd be like a video game character and thought that was such a cool idea, so she signed away basically her own humanity to do what she feels like is turning life itself into a game.
A deeply strange otaku and gamer, her life is spent consuming media and wanting to get something more out of her life. A permanent yearning for things that she cannot have. Maybe the new Digital Webway system that supposedly lets DH (Digital Humans) travel to other realities via the Zeroscape gets her that kick she so desperately wants.
She sometimes also partakes in corporate espionage for the shits and giggles, loving the thrill of hacking into something and getting the data her clients want. She bats for both sides of new cybersecurity teams, as that makes her the most money and excitement!
