Kitsune_Ayumi

Bio:

Ayumi Ishida is a kitsune, a spiritually powerful fox taken human(ish) form. Kitsune live long lives, and so despite being a mature 198 years of age, Ayumi's appearance is still that of a girl in her teens. Her hair is a long golden blonde that falls down her back, and her eyes are two little emeralds that perfectly compliment her smile. Instead of human ears, she has a pair of fluffy (and sensitive!) ones atop her head, giving her excellent hearing. She's fairly short, coming in at a petite 5'1, with a slender build. Her other notably foxy features are a twin pair of fluffy fox tails that wag about constantly, the same colour as her hair but with pretty white tips.

Ayumi is a very kind soul, always doing her best to remain cheerful and upbeat as she travels around the world, helping whoever needs it and gaining knowledge as she does so. She's an optimistic girl who tries to see the best in others and seek the brightest path out of dark situations. Despite her youthful appearance and happy-go-lucky personality, she's actually rather wise given her old age, and those who might brush her off as an idealistic, innocent kid might find themselves surprised! She's fairly casual when talking to others, regardless of their own age or rank, with the exception of older kitsune or other powerful creatures that demand her respect! To those who treat her nicely, she's a ray of sunshine doing her best to improve the lives of those around her. To those who tease her, she's an easily-flustered cutie who can manage quite a temper when wound up! To those who spread suffering, she's a fierce opponent who will refuse to back down until the very end. However, Ayumi is by no means invincible, and negative emotions can hurt her just as easily as positive ones can keep her going. In truly desperate times, she's actually rather weak when alone and relies on the kindness of others to escape her own self-doubt. Her life is truly a cycle of helping and being helped in turn.

Background:

Ayumi was born to the Ishida clan, a group of kitsune who live together in order to gain greater knowledge for their secluded village. They are a clan of wise scholars and talented fighters, and as such, she had a lot of high expectations set on her from the beginning. As the years passed, Ayumi came to the horrible realisation that she wasn't like the others. No matter how hard she trained, her powers were mundane by their standards. She wasn't too smart, nor was she strong. She was a complete failure. Just average. Living on the island, negative feelings began to eat away at the young fox. She thought someday her teachers and elders might just totally give up on her. It had to be disappointment in their eyes...she was a complete waste of space there, and as time went by and nothing changed, she couldn't take it any more. Ayumi ran from her homeland, carrying with her a stolen magical bag with seemingly no end, and her personal grimoire, containing her own novice spells. This was the start of her lifelong journey.

At first, she found herself lost and alone, scared and full of uncertainty, but the outside world wasn't so inhospitable. Over time, many people helped the girl find shelter and food, a job and some cheerful company. The warmth of human compassion was truly something she found herself admiring, and as time went on the girl wished to help those who helped her. Without the kindness of strangers, she would have turned out as a completely different person, full of bitterness and regret. As the years went by, she found new reason to develop her skills, and did her best with odd jobs and such to bring smiles to more and more people. Years turned to decades, and with time the experience of her upbringing began to feel more and more like a bad memory. She regretted leaving her home, but she knew it had been the right choice. The only way for her to develop into someone she could be proud of was out in the wild, through countless failures and successes.

Magic:

Ayumi is naturally able to use various magic abilities, ranging from cosmetic to destructive. She uses a huge spellbook that she can either hold or have hover in front of her through basic telekinesis. When it comes to fighting, here's a sample of her abilities:

Elemental magic - Fireballs, ice spikes, gusts of wind etc. This is her speciality!

Kitsune Fire - blue orbs of fire that orbit her and are much more effective than a regular fireball.

Disbelief: Short range teleport - mainly used to dodge deadly moves. Used in a pinch, as she can't use it repeatedly.

Laser-type spells - these beams are strong, capable of penetrating thick armour.

Arcana - she can use a range of arcane spells to change things around her. This includes things like size-alteration, little illusions and very small portals. Uses of these can be potentially rather lewd...

She also has access to her bag, a magical artifact with seemingly no end! Over the decades she's collected quite the impressive hoard, turning it into what feels like a pocket dimension of random clutter ranging from supernatural artifacts to J-pop CDs.
