Introduction:
Karrien stared at the book it was a wonder to behold. Her partner looked at it the light of the flashlight reflecting off of his rough stubbled face. "A bloody book? We came all the way to the States for a bloody feckin book?" Wallace, her partner was less than pleased. "This isn't any book you imbecile. This book contains endless, unfathomable potential." she hissed at him. Wallace clearly didn't get it. The less he knew the better. "As long as I get my cut, you could have gotten a cheeseburger with crisps." he said finally. "You'll get your cut when I am back over the pond and alive." Karrien said not wanting to have a conversation about money again. "Right. Let's get out of here then. This place ain't right. Gives me the willies." said the large man. She had to admit, the place was dreadful.
According to history.. not the kind of history you're likely to hear about on the BBC... The Church of Starry Wisdom, which they were now standing deep in the bowels of; was a cult that worshipped a being known as Nyarlathotep. Established in 1844, the congregation was driven out of Providence after a series of seemingly related local disappearances. It is said that the cult had kidnapped people for sacrifices to Nyarlathotep in return for limitless knowledge. The hidden library they had just pilfered contained only a fraction of the occult literature that the Church of Starry Wisdom had written and uncovered. The book that Karrien cared about was "De Vermis Mysteriis", which translated to Mysteries of the Worm. Contained with in the tome was lost ancient knowledge, summoning rituals, and secret alchemical recipes.
Karrien is an Anthropologist of sorts. She is fascinated with the occult and the pursuit of hidden knowledge. She has dedicated much of her life to excavating ancient civilizations, pouring over dusty tomes, and schmoozing with witch doctors. Due to her studies and the wealth of knowledge she has collected she has become quite a target for many different groups. As attempts on her life are rather regular, she has gotten used to living with a sort of paranoia that can only be earned.
The thing about a lot of these secret societies.. its the symbols. It always gives them away. She liked Wallace, she really did. He was very affable for an assassin but his utility was just about worn out. Karrien flicked off her flashlight and nimbly positioned herself behind Wallace. She pressed the cold black steel of her revolver to his back. "OI! You crazy bitch!" Wallace barked. Karrien flicked her flashlight on again. "When were you planning to do it? I mean, wouldn't it have been best to do it in the library? It was literally a hidden chamber. What better place is there to hide body?" Wallace was silent for a moment, then his elbow flew back. He was a big guy and as close as she was, a sharp hit from his elbow would have taken her lights out right quick. Fortunately for Karrien, she was lighter on her feet and faster. She leaped back, unloading 4 loud rounds into the large man's broad back. He fell face first, his large form hitting the ground with a heavy booming thud.
Karrien walked up cautiously shining the light on Wallace's body. Guy's like this can take a hit or two pretty well, but upon closer examination she noticed one of her shots must have went wild. A red jewel of blood could be seen glistening in the back of the big man's dome. "Oh.. Sorry Wallace." she said morosely. Karrien hated murder. It always brought her down. She sighed and rolled up the man's sleeve. She had known he was a part of the Illum- "Oh. Oh Deer." She had expected to see the ancient trademark triangle, the one with the all seeing eye. What she saw was a satirical parody, an upside down pizza with an eye. "The all seeing pie.." Karrien muttered. This wasn't the first time she had killed one of her body guards... just the first time she didn't need to.
Character/Description:
Karrien's is an adventurer from the UK. She is here in Providence after a mishap in claiming her latest prize "De Vermis Mysteriis". She is an athletic girl who has developed a fair amount of strength from her adventures. She is obsessed with the occult and has a series of acquaintances that she trusts to provide her tips on places that are rumored to contain rich occult findings. Some of her findings she sells, while others she keeps in her own personal vault.
When Karrien is not hunting treasures she is learning more about the ones she has collected and selling the rest. Her exotic goods have carved out a lavish living for her. She lives in a castle that is attended by an entire staff of maids and servants. In her castle she has a large dedicated study filled with ancient tomes that describe anything from summoning rituals to alchemical potion recipes. She has even had some modest success in concocting a love potion. Why anyone would want one such a potion is beyond her... One of her servants who drank said potion became so morbidly obsessed with her that he forgot to eat... ever again. Perhaps, that potion still needs work.
Karrien can at times be a little cold... You might say she lacks empathy, but that would be unfair. She is just very dedicated to her works. She prefers the company of ancient tomes vs that of most warm bodied people. However, she still relies on people for many things... body guards, assistants, servants.. It is unfortunate but, rather unavoidable.

Your idea?
I am open to anything, the more creative the better. Using dice for a variety of things can add a fun bit of randomness to a scene.
The Struggle (Optional)
- Please let me know if you want this! -
If you are interested, we can roll dice just before digestion begins. We will call this time the struggle. During the struggle Karrien will get anywhere from 1-3 attempts at escaping with a 1d6. The pred will always roll a 3d6. If Karrien wins any roll she may be allowed to escape the pred’s belly. (These numbers can be modified/played with depending on the pred.)
