MESSENGER
Although the Guild's public image was dominated by famous, larger-than-life heroes, the vast majority of "adventurers" were little more than members of a neighborhood watch. They held the line around countless unnamed villages, scraping by with rental equipment, earning barely enough for a day's meal – even after taking advantage of the various discounts available to Guild members. For most, the knowledge that they were keeping their homes and loved ones safe was payment enough.
Kamae was one such "everyman adventurer." The eldest of seven siblings in a poor peasant family, her parents had long relied on her to keep the household under control: she'd earned a healthy respect from even her rambunctious brothers, as apt at comforting toddlers and patching up scraped knees as at clonking rebellious teenage heads together. When monsters came calling, it was only natural for big sister Kamae to take up arms; the Guild offered equipment at affordable prices and discounts at the market, so she joined up.
Her "adventures" rarely took her beyond the horizon – after all, she had to be home for dinner. On most days she walked quiet patrols through the surrounding farmland, drawing her sword only to chase off the occasional slime or scare off a wandering group of goblins. The stillness of the village outskirts proved a welcome respite from her rowdy family, and she often looked forward to her peaceful lunches in the field. But although she would gaze out occasionally over the great beyond, it held no strong allure. Her greatest treasure was behind her.
She's a lovely girl, and she handles basic tasks well enough. Hardly a natural, but with a bit more time to get used to her equipment, she should be able to handle simple quests.
"Weekend warrior" type; don't expect her to pick up any big side quests. She'll come out when it counts, though.
