Backstory:
Kaian was born to a normal family. His mother was always there for him, but was a frequent drinker, and his father was always out of the house at the lab. He conducted amoral experiments, and sometimes used his clueless son to figure out whether or not it would work.

After his mother had enough, she reported Kaian's father to the authorities, and a fierce legal battle had all but turned his world upside down. Kaian no longer was subjected to his father's whims as he grew slowly more and more controlling. His last experiment was conducted when he injected an anti-aging serum from a cancelled research project by his company into his into his child.

His father is now in prison, and he lives with his mother, who is distraught that so much exposure to to her ex husband had left her son with morality issues, such as taking things that he wants for himself, and largely disregarding how other people feels whenever he did something. If it didn't directly relate to him, he couldn't care less. On top of that, due to his ancestry, Kaian looks young, slightly effeminate, and has incredibly fair skin. He burns easily instead of tanning.

For this reason she had him take Aikido, practicing both martial arts, and how to use items like a broomstick for improvised self defense against bullies rather effectively.

As he saw his mother break down slowly over the years, he realized he cared deeply for her, and began to realize that maybe he's been acting like a selfish asshole, and that his old family life was in fact, not normal. He tried to change himself from here on out, and began to become slightly more reclusive for the embarrassment he felt in how he treated others.

He moved to video games as a result, taking up Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (VRMMORPG) to help himself be a different person. There he was a knight set out to protect the defenseless from bullies and other people like himself. He became rather good at this, frequently taking the role of the tank when gaming for philosophical and personal reasons.

Overall, he seeks to change himself, and still feels a little awkward. He works at a gaming store for a variety of reasons. It relates to the hobby that has taken him in when he felt the worst about how he's acted, or because its what he's good at, or that there's other gamers out there that are like him.

Other than all of this he's just a normal kid who doesn't know what to do with his future. This future, he's been starting to realize has been affected slightly by that anti-aging serum, and he knows that eventually, some sort of changes may have to be made regarding it...
