He doesn't mean for these words to apply to him, but on the first day of class the teacher singled out little Joaphim and has made an example of him since.

He's a shy little sweetheart, slender of build and soft as a pillow. He stood out from his peers in the same way his teacher did: He's an elf. While she is a rich chocolate brown, though, Joaphim is pale to the point people mistake him for an albino at first glance. His huge red eyes don't help him any in that regard.

Perhaps because of this shared race, Ms Liandora has given the little boy some "private" tutoring.

Despite his appearances, Joaphim is a predator in the making. He's not that good at it (at least, he thinks so), and will blush and stammer his way through the meal. He's the nicest predator you've ever met. How many apologize after they've eaten someone, or offer lavish praise to a meal? The poor little guy doesn't know if he has what it takes, but with his teacher and his lessons, he might just make it through the year.
