Kept sheltered her entire life, Jaymay was once going to be sacrificed for her tribe's land deity. She knew from a young age what her fate was to be and she accepted it, as all before her had. She knew it was the only way to keep her family safe and fed; that it was for the greater good. Still, despite how hard she tried to remain positive and think about others, as time passed, she wished it could have been someone else.

Being a chosen lamb of the blade came with high esteem in Jaymay's tribe; she was kept well-fed, given a very comfortable place to sleep, and had little work she was required to do. She enjoyed all of this for a while, but she longed to be able to experience things other people were; the mating ritual for starters. Jaymay, despite being inexperienced and really not knowing what "the mating ritual" was, wanted to experience it because she desperately wanted to feel close to someone. Because of how beautiful she is, many of her tribe's women resented her; they resented that she was the forbidden fruit of their husbands and sons. She wasn't permitted to speak to most of them.

It was her seventeenth year-- the beginning of what was supposed to be her last year-- when the incident happened. It was a day when Jaymay was out for one of her daily walks down the designated trail. She was escorted at all times everywhere she went, but her escorts were women that disliked her, so they typically paid her little attention.

Jaymay saw something off the side of the trail; it was shiny. She wanted to see what it was. What she picked up was a small lizard unlike any she had seen before; it was green, but seemed to have a slight glow about it. It was small, but had large black eyes. It didn't struggle or try to run from her. She was amused by the little creature, so she took it with her back to the camp. She fed it some of her portion from the daily hunt and talked to the little creature. She was so surprised it stayed with her, but saw it as a sign from the gods that she was going down the right path; that she was doing the right thing.

The next day, the lizard spoke to her. At first, Jaymay was frightened (as most people are of things they don't understand). All it offered her was a greeting when she awoke, but still, she was terrified. She didn't scream; she only stared in shock as the small thing crawled up her arm and assured her that she would be safe-- that her kindness would be rewarded. That was when its shape changed; it went from being a tangible lizard to a small orb of light and sunk into her skin.

Jaymay was immediately enveloped in a feeling of warmth deep within her core that she had never felt before as her previously jet-black hair and dark brown eyes began to turn green. Her eyes widened as she was surrounded by flora growing around her at a rapid rate. She cried out and only minutes later was someone pulling open the flap to her tent. "Help me!" She cried out. They tried to cut through the vines, but could not. Their weapons were lost to the briar.

This jungle sprite took away Jaymay's mortality by fusing with her spirit and making her a beginner-level deity. Because of this, she was unable to become her tribe's sacrifice, but her tribe has since began to attempt to worship her instead. Many find this to be sacrilegious, but she is slowly growing stronger-- strong enough to support them.

Trivia:
1. Jaymay still doesn't consider herself to be a goddess, though she does have some divine powers. She also still heavily considers herself as a human.
2. She's very inexperienced/naive about sexual things and when the are clearly presented to her, she easily becomes coy.
3. With her elevated status, Jaymay has a greater affinity for nature. Plants obey her whims (however unconscious they may be) and many animals respond very differently to her than they do to others!

1. You are an explorer of remote lands; you happen upon Jaymay, alone and afraid in the remnants of her tribe's land.

2. You are the deity Jaymay was meant to be sacrificed to. Perhaps she feels resentment towards you for the loss of her humanity; or you her for the loss of your followers.

3. You are a physician; an outsider to the tribe who was welcomed in during a time when many were ill. You and Jaymay happen to cross paths.
