The Sergei tribe that summoned Jande Jari to be their tribe's deity never anticipated that they'd mistakenly summon a deity to be so large, nor one that branched as wide for power spectrum as she is. They were a people with primitive ways of thinking (one that did not allow their women to be educated and did not take stock in the word or abilities of a woman) and were appalled that their god would be a female.

But, when there are so few constraints on what a tribe wants from their deity, the yokai being summoned from Yomi is decently free to do as they please. And so, Jande Jari was born as a giant goddess that reigns over everything. She decided that she'd be the only deity that this tribe needed. Unfortunately for her, the one summoning 'rule' they gave her was that she could not be worshipped by women.

She really didn't understand why so many human cultures thought so much less of women than they did of men. Sure, women weren't better than men by any means, but they definitely weren't worse, let alone so horrible that they shouldn't be allowed to practice religion or be given an education. Because of this, she tends to take extra care of females she takes for sacrifice, giving them the most gentle and affectionate treatment possible. She keeps their souls while she can and then releases them.

With males, though, she normally is not so merciful and benevolent. Because of the lack of respect that her male followers tend to give her, she has come to think less of men in general. She treats her male offerings as toys instead of as precious gifts.

Trivia:
1. Jande Jari causes earthquakes when she's upset or angry. It's a major part of her wrath. Of course, there are other natural disasters she uses sometimes, but she typically defaults to earthquakes.

2. As stated above, she can only be worshipped by males. Because of this, Jande can only receive proper sacrifice/offering when it is given by males.

3. Jande doesn't hate men in general; she only hates men that treat women poorly. And that happens to be quite a lot of the men she's been exposed to since her "rebirth" as a deity. With outsiders, so long as they are respectful, she is fine with them.

4. Jande is a hermaphrodite; she has both set of genitalia, both fully functioning. They are stored within a genital slit near where a normal human's genitals would be-- right in the area where her human groin would be, but covered by the plating that covers her snake underbelly. When aroused/ the plating can split to allow access to the genitals. She has full control over whether male, female, or both sets are exposed.

5. Jande enjoys brazenly dressing in a way that makes the men of her tribe uncomfortable, as she knows that they know that they're unable to restrict her, lest they wish to have their homes and everything ruined and their lives more than likely ended.

6. Jande CAN change her size to be larger or smaller than she presently is, if she so desires. Her default size is just the one she feels most comfortable in.
