The manifestation of the God of Shadow never appears to just anyone, it is only to those whom he feels might share his unique tastes for physical pain. He views flesh as a canvas, ever open to new works of art under the right tools. He's always been a masochist himself though, even long before his ascent to God-Hood. It is wise to remember, he's every bit as capable of dealing out considerably more damage than one could inflict upon him; he just really enjoys watching you try.
