Insomnium is an odd one..... Shy, introverted, usually very quiet, she resides in the place Between, a mirror world where all truths are laid bare, and everything appears as it is under the surface. Occasionally a lost traveler or child, wandering the woods, will see her lantern swinging in the fog, a mist that slowly forms, and eventually, her eyes become visible, then.... Her.
She's a guide, a guide to home, and if you follow her, a guide to the place Between. She will show you truths, maybe some you want to know, maybe some you don't. Most simply follow her and her lantern, swinging side to side with a soft creak each way. Inside, she wishes that someone would try to strike up a conversation with her, she's so lonely.... But so far, very few of those she's rescued have.
She can really be considered a minor deity.... Not one that is worshipped, but whenever a traveler who found their way safely home gives a directionless prayer of thanks, they are thanking her. The place Between is fatal to normal living things, if too long is spent in it.... The body can't handle the strain of existing in a higher state. And yet, Insomnium walks it without issue.... Even lives there.
