Brief Description

A girl who sometimes appears to have animal-like ears and a tail. (IMO, she resembles a fox girl.) She is 15 and she was raised in the woods by her mother's friend, Setsu. Having grown up alongside animals, she is quite agile and has a habit of exposing her stomach when apologizing. She wishes to become an Urara to find her mother.

MAJOR DISCLAIMER!! I am so sorry to all people I've encountered/RPed with, for I have deceived you. Chiya is only 15 years old. I know, I know, you all should rage and get mad at me for not inputting the correct information.

[Note 3: In RP, there were a few instances where Chiya has unlocked a secret form. In this form, she gains eight tails, instantly turning her into a full-fledged kitsune. What the tails do is entirely up to Chiya herself. When she is angry, her tails flame up. She can also morph the extra tails into a floofy object. Examples include a cushion, a blanket, and a pillow.]

What is an Urara?

Basically, a fortune teller. Meirocho is the name of the town in which such fortune tellers reside. Thus gives the namesake for the anime, "Urara Meirochou."

Description of Chiya's friends and their methods of fortune telling

Tatsumi_Kon - A straight-laced girl who specializes in kokkuri fortune telling. Due to the way she wears her ribbon, she is often thought to be a fox girl.

kokkuri - Kokkuri (こっくり, 狐狗狸) or Kokkuri-san (こっくりさん) is a Japanese game popular during the Meiji period that is also a form of divination, based partially on Western table-turning. The name kokkuri is an onomatopoeia meaning "to nod up and down", and refers to the movement of the actual kokkuri mechanism. The kanji used to write the word is an ateji, although its characters reflect the popular belief that the movement of the mechanism is caused by supernatural agents (ko 狐, foxes; ku 狗, tengu; ri 狸, tanuki). The word kokkuri refers to the game, the actual physical apparatus, and the spirit(s) believed to possess the apparatus in order to communicate with humans. The physical mechanism is composed of three bamboo rods arranged to make a tripod, upon which is placed a small pot, which is covered by a cloth. Three or more people will place their hands upon the kokkuri and ask the spirits a question, which that spirit will in theory answer by moving the pot or remaining still. Japanese folklorist Inoue Enryō wrote about the kokkuri phenomenon, denouncing it as mere superstition, yet his efforts did not succeed in depopularizing the game. Some scientific figures of the age attempted to explain the phenomena with the more scientific sounding yet ultimately equally mysterious term "human electricity".

Yukimi Koume - An energetic girl who dresses like a witch and specializes in tarot fortune telling.

tarot - The tarot (/ˈtæroʊ/; first known as trionfi and later as tarocchi, tarock and tarot) is a pack of playing cards, used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian tarocchini, French tarot and Austrian Königrufen. Many of these tarot card games are still played today. In the late 18th century, some Tarot packs began to be used in parallel for divination in the form of tarotology and cartomancy and, later, specialist packs were developed for such occult purposes. Like common playing cards, the tarot has four suits (which vary by region: French suits in Northern Europe, Latin suits in Southern Europe, and German suits in Central Europe). Each suit has 14 cards, ten pip cards numbering from one (or Ace) to ten and four face cards (King, Queen, Knight, and Jack/Knave). In addition, the tarot has a separate 21-card trump suit and a single card known as the Fool. Depending on the game, the Fool may act as the top trump or may be played to avoid following suit. These tarot cards, without occult symbology, are still used throughout much of Europe to play card games. In English-speaking countries, where these games are not played frequently, tarot cards are used primarily for divinatory purposes, usually using specially designed packs. The cards are traced by some occult writers to ancient Egypt or the Kabbalah but there is no documented evidence of such origins or of the usage of tarot for divination before the 18th century.

Natsume Nono - A shy girl who is the younger sister of the Natsumeya's owner, Nina. She owns a doll named Matsuko given to her by her mother, who died when she was little, and often does ventriloquism with it.
Natsume Nina - Nono's older sister, a Rank 5 Urara who runs the Natsumeya teahouse and tutors the other Uraras.
Iroi Saku - Captain of Meirocho's Bloque 10 Patrol Unit who is close friends with Nina. She is strict in her duties and often embarrassed by Chiya's shameless actions.
Setsu - A friend of Chiya's mother who raised Chiya in the forest after her mother's disappearance. As a result, Chiya calls Setsu her other mother.
