"........"
Induvall. Tall, lean, starkly pale skin, sickly green eyes in pools of black. A stigma of jagged darkness across one side of his face. Marked for the thing that he is.
Revenant.
He was a young man when he died the very first time. From what? He has no idea. But he was very much a corpse when his body was chosen for the experiment. The actual beating heart was taken from something undead and placed within his cold, lifeless chest. Just to see what would happen.
What happened? Well, he came back to life! Sort of. Neither truly undead nor truly alive; a revenant. Induvall has a pulse, he breathes, he moves and thinks, he can eat and drink. But he doesn't need to sleep, and what actually nourishes him comes from an unending thirst. Human blood. He craves it constantly.
Thankfully, he has this thirst well in hand....most of the time. But the ichor in his veins, distilled from the blood he drinks, fuels body. He's a little faster, more dexterous, stronger than a normal mortal ought to be, and he heals extremely rapidly. If he goes too long without drinking, or sustains too much harm, the thirst can overcome him, causing a frenzy. In such a state, he'll attack nearly anyone, like a mindless animal driven only to feed.
This was somewhat expected by the people who performed this experiment, though. What wasn't expected were two other peculiar side effects. Firstly, Induvall is amnesiac; that is, he has no memory whatsoever of his previous life. He recalls everything about his "life" as a revenant, even in spite of having had to regenerate from catastrophic damage now and then. The second effect? He's a mute. Induvall is incapable of speaking, although he very clearly understands those around him.
So what does he do, now that he's this thing, out of place in ordinary society? He fights monsters. Well, the ones that attack people. See, the whole point of the project was to create soldiers without the frailties or risks of mortals facing undead creatures evolved to feed upon such. Fire with fire, or something like that. Having his throat torn out is more of an inconvenience (if a painful one) to him, instead of fatal. His ichor probably isn't as tasty as living vitae, the same way he doesn't like to drink from actual undead.
Not a human. Not a monster. A revenant.
