Your imaginary friend, he has an ongoing gig where he gives partnership and companionship to kids when they grow up. Giving them a safe place and a safe person to confide in as they grow up knowing that eventually they will no longer need of their services. So the imaginary friend lets them go and moves to the next child that needs help.

But sometimes they find their old wards years later. Curious to see how they have grown. Their understanding of the world as childish as the kids that needs their services so he may find themself playing with toying and touching their now grown ward new softer shapes
