Howl

Howl. Odd name, but it's the only one he uses anymore. It fits him, as well.... being as odd as he is. A man with a rather interesting and unusual past, and not one he often discusses unless he's drunk or has actually met one of his very few friends. Sometimes, to the right bartender.

A drifter, these days, and without any sort of steady job, Howl pretty much just wanders from place to place, city to city. He never takes much with him, and only stays long enough to make enough money to get to the next city. Simple work, typically labor, or just hanging around in the wrong place long enough to attract attention from people no one will miss... unsavory, but at times it's quite useful to him and the community where he does it. It's also a fair bit faster, in some instances, than in doing more wholesome work. Helps keep his skills sharp, too.

Howl... well. He has a Past. A Complicated Past. He does not talk about it, but looking at him, watching him, suggests a few things. Combat experience. Military service. Ruthlessness in practical matters such as survival. And... well. Readiness to do anything he has to to survive. He doesn't carry much around with him. A heavy duster, for any sort of foul weather. A broad-brimmed hat to keep rain off his head. That sort of thing.

His clothing, as well, is exceedingly practical. Simple, comfortable, loose-fitting attire, allowing full freedom of movement. His boots are custom-made, comfortable things, good for hours of walking, working, or fighting. His pants are simple cotton affairs, light and strong. His shirt, the same, and a button-down for ease of getting it off should he be injured. He doesn't wear jewelry, doesn't carry valuables around with him. His necklace only sports a simple, silver ring, a band, no more, without inscription, and the most he has with him are some light survival essentials, a cloth that can serve as a blanket or, with a few sticks, part of a shelter. Flint, tinder, and a spark rod in case he gets wet. Some small, nutritious crackers. Herbs and medicine.

Oh, and a sword. A simple, practical blade, similar to a gladius, with a sharp, pointy tip and a sharp, slashing edge. Good for hacking apart foliage in thickly wooded areas, and for hacking off limbs or through armor. Simple, effective, and apparently well-used.

The man's appearance is normal enough. His hair is black, with reddish highlights, his skin tanned from time spent outside, his eyes green, his face scarred from a single slash some time past, right across the bridge of his nose(ow). He stands at five feet ten inches tall, and is athletic, lean and muscular without being bulky.
