Hong Meiling, skilled martial artist, unparalleled in hand-to-hand combat. Fiercely loyal to her employer, she guards the gate to the Scarlet Devil's mansion day and night. Intruders risk great harm, or worse, being sent to her gut as nothing more than a high-protein meal.

Hong Meiling, lazy gate guard, always falling asleep on the job. Tall and fit, but a pushover when it comes to anything more than martial combat. And if Miss Sakuya finds her asleep at the gate one more time, it just might earn her a demotion to the mansion's food supply.

Two sides of the same coin, really. Meiling stands at 6 feet, 7 inches (a hair over 2 meters), and she's a skilled practitioner of tàijí quán, tai chi. The woman makes her living standing guard at the gate of a large mansion, and is generally quite friendly. So long as a person doesn't try to tresspass onto her employer's property, she loves to hold conversations with passersby. Those that do try to tresspass or otherwise wrong her, however, are subject to the full fury of a Chinese dragon. While she's not very skilled in magic, her body's been honed by years of dedicated training, and is a veritable weapon in of itself.

Still, as previously mentioned, Meiling is quite friendly. She'd much rather share a meal with someone than turn them into a meal, but she's loyal to her employer above all else. Befriend her, and you'll have a cheerful, loyal companion. But if you get on her bad side, well...

She's not invincible, however. While she's fast and physically strong, she lacks magical talent and has low resistance to magical effects, so the magically-inclined can often get the best of her. If someone were so inclined to make a meal of Meiling, don't expect it to be a walk in the park. Dragon meat is extremely flavorful and nutritious, but the woman's centuries of training, as well as her own innate toughness, make eating her quite the ordeal. If you can get her down in one piece, a challenge in of itself due to strength and large size, she can spend upwards of a week kicking and squirming in a gut. And that's to say nothing of the difficulty of trying to cook her, a delicate operation that could take upwards of a day.
