Back story:

A green haired neko wandered the forest, whom was only around the age of 12 at the time. She couldn’t remember exactly, this happened such a time so long ago not even the history books could remember. This little neko took her walk through the forest like she had done on each day before. Pretty much this was a part of her daily routine. She picked up a stick which had fallen from a tree she used for the last week after the previous week’s storm. With this she tapped on the stones as she walked around, humming a cheery little tune and admiring the scenery as she ventured forth. The sun shown from the tree canopy and was her only guide to the place she loved to go. The forest was quiet aside from the chirping of some birds in the trees, singing their beautiful songs as they would in the early parts of spring.

Alone she walked towards the forest’s middle. The further she went the darker it got. The trees were thicker and blocked out more of the morning sun. She could still see and skipped along. Avoiding the soft spots of dirt she had come to know from her daily trips. Eventually, she arrived at the center of the forest. In front of her was a beautiful lake. Shallow and clear, not reaching more than a foot in depth. She skipped along to the waters edge and kneeled down to admire it. In the water was some orange and white fish. Shimmering from the light reflected by their scales. She stuck her foot in the water without worry. Plunging her feet right next to some of the fish when she giggled, “Morning little fishies. It is a beautiful morning. Please let my by.”

After this she pushed through the waters. The fish brushed up against her legs as she walked to the center of the lake which housed a single tree. Huge in scale, it was a marvel to behold. It seemed to be older than the forest in which it lived. All around the canopy of the massive tree the sky is clear since the lake acted like a little barrier, keeping the others away. The little girl looked up at the massive thing. Its trunk had to have been wider than 2 men are tall. The height was just awe inspiring, the top completely hidden from view from by its own height. The little girl wiggled her butt and lept. Clinging to the trunk she started to scale the tree. She smiled and acended with ease. She had climbed this tree every day, even going a little bit higher each day.

Once she reached the top the little neko perched herself on a branch. She looked up and poked a cloud that was passing right in front of her. A light breeze blew her hair in her face. After brushing the golden locks out of her face she let out a squeaky little yawn. She rubbed her orange eyes and stretched, careful not to fall. “Gosh, that was a long climb. I should take a nap.” Just like that she sprawled over the branch and closed her eyes. Drifting into a cozy little slumber.

She woke to the smell of smoke. The little neko girl looked down to see only black smoke clouding her vision. She only could hear the roar of the flame guided by the winds from their source, bringing with it its gusts of heat, making it hard to breathe. The neko coughed as the smoke began to fill her lungs. Her attention was ripped from the smoke inhibiting her breathing to the sound of a thunderous crack from below. More and more cracks rang through the sky as the tree began to fall, shifting the tree under her she grabbed the branch and hung on for dear life. She cries out in pure terror as the tree started falling faster and faster until it crashed into the ground. Landing with a monsterous thud. The ground shook with the roaring crash of this tree to the ground. The little girl was crushed underneath the branch she was napping on. Tears ran from her face as she looked at the sky. It was filled with the sight of falling trees. They were crashing loud as everything else but she didn’t hear them. The sound was fading with the light of the flame. The heat of the surrounding fires didn’t feel like they burned. She slowly closed her eyes, the sky fading with the last few heaves of her once moving chest.
