Backstory

Helen grew up in surrounded by magic. From a young age she watched the world from a tower. Watching the city rise and fall while she spent her time forced to study. She learned simple magics at first. Everyone gets excited when they cast their first successful prestidigitation. Helen however, was estatic. She didn't take more than another two days to master a few spells of the first level.

Helen was pulled into a school of mages. The only one in her nation and it was dangerous to go outside. There were a few of her friends that were killed just for being caught outside by the city guards. Trapped in a prison with the only way out being through pure brute force.

Helen was the youngest person alive to reach the fifth level of magic. She constantly spent her days learning magics but no one would pay attention to just what she learned. She had accidentally discovered a secret art of the elves when she had broken into the headmistress' quarters. Sneaking out and stealing some of the most elven looking books. But she would hide away from time to time. Her 53rd year to her 65th year were all spent learning to fight with a quarterstaff.

It was only when she had spent over a century of her life locked in the tower in the center of a city that only grew grayer and darker with each passing year. The crime rose and the number of friends she had were reduced to none as she was one of very few elves trapped within and the only one within her age range to survive the times when those who hated magic tried to destroy their tower. She had learned magics of the 8th level by the time one she reached a youthful 150. People in the tower soon were saying she should replace the headmistress. This only took another 20 years because for an elf, people would say that she too young.

After taking over the tower she was quick to ruffle up the status quo. Shifting rules, making confrences to change laws involving mages. Many considered her dangerous while some a savior. She banned the killing of mages and would only do so through the terrifying presensce she brought when people around her learned she had begun learning spells of the 9th level.

By the time she had reached a healthy 200 she had taken over the nation she had once considered a prison, commanded the loyalty of hundreds of mages and was feared by the gods. Once she had reached this position she placed someone as a puppet to rule. Not wanting to waste her life with administration. She had bigger issues to handle and she handled them better than anyone. One of the gods, Talbor, the god of man and civility saw Helen's upheaval of social norms as more than a simple issue. Not letting things happen naturally. Normally he could just send followers of himself but he had lost literal hundreds of men just to her ability that scared him the most. The ability so consume others and absorb their energy.

She didn't do it much through her life until if felt like a waste just to even cast a spell at some of her foes. Might as well save the food stores. Well Talbor soon came to fight Helen himself. The god pushed Helen hard but eventually couldn't stand up to her. She spent everything to face him. Every spell and every bit of energy but she soon won and consumed him and his power. Granting herself eternal life.

Now getting a taste of true divine power, Helen couldn't control her lust for more. Her greed consumed what values she had for freedom for mages and what care for humanity she had left. She grew in strength and soon took down a godess of thunder. Absorbing her power. Soon the gods hid. Abandoning mortals just to hide from this beast of a mage. An elf body hiding the energy of a god hunter. Looking to find and snack on the next one she could find. Looking to grow her strength and maybe, even possibly stand over the gods themselves.

Combat Perks

• War Caster: You have practiced casting spells in the midst of combat, learning techniques that grant you the following benefits:
  • You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage.
  • You can perform the somatic components of spells even when you have weapons or a shield in one or both hands.
  • When a hostile creature's movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature.
• Fey Teleportation: Once per short rest: Cast Mistystep without cost
• Boon of High Magic: gain +1 9th level spell slot
• Boon of the Stormborn: Immunity to lightning and thunder damgage. Can cast Thunderwave (save dc 15) at will for no cost
• Boon of Recovery: Once per short rest: As a bonus action: Regain half of your health once
• Boon of Immortality: You cease aging

• Arcane Recovery: On a short rest, regain levels of spell slots equal to half of your level (10)
• Spell mastery: Can cast a first and second level spell at will. (Enlarge/reduce, Shield)
• Signature spells: Always have 2 level 3 spells prepped and doesn't count against prepped spells. Once per short rest, you can cast these spells without using a spell slot (Counterspell, dispell magic)
• Bladesong: You can use a bonus action to start the Bladesong, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you don medium or heavy armor or a shield, or if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon. You can also dismiss the Bladesong at any time you choose (no action required). While your Bladesong is active, you gain the following benefits:
  • You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
  • Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
  • You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks
  • You gain a bonus to any Constitution saving throw you make to maintain your concentration on a spell. The bonus equals your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).
  You can use this feature twice. You regain all expended uses of it when you finish a short or long rest.
• Extra attack: Can attack twice
• Song of Defense: You can direct your magic to absorb damage while your Bladesong is active. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to expend one spell slot and reduce that damage to you by an amount equal to five times the spell slot's level.
• Song of Victory: Add int mod to weapon damage
