London Tipton is the only child of business tycoon Wilfred Tipton. Her mother, who has never been named, is of Thai origin; her father is American, though he claims British citizenship for income tax purposes. She was born and raised in wealth and high society, and is heiress to the Tipton corporate empire (which includes the Tipton hotel chain and many other companies, including several record labels). It is revealed in The Suite Life on Deck episodes "A London Carol" that London used to love helping people and every Christmas she and Moseby used to always go to the homeless shelter.
London has always worn designer clothing and had a lot of interest in designer clothing. She had a tough childhood, because her father was always busy and married many women. In "The Suite Life on Deck," it also shows that her father married a girl named Karina because London wanted her out of her way. This was due to the fact that she thought Karina was getting in the way of her relationship with a magician on the ship. London herself says that Karina is her father's fourteenth wife. It is also said in the finale of "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" that her father has been married a dozen times in the past.
Her father did not attend any of London's performances (such as Itsy Bitsy Spider) in her childhood years because he was supposedly very busy, as revealed by London to Maddie in the episode "Lip Synchin' in the Rain." As she grew older, she started to cover the emptiness her father created by his absence with shopping, as Maddie discovers in the episode Kisses & Basketball. Maddie claims she buys clothes only to cover the emptiness in her heart. In The Suite Life on Deck episode "The Beauty and the Fleeced" London admits to shopping when she is depressed.She has a style of her own.
She was miserable during her early childhood years, because her father never appeared when she needed him. In the episode "Poor Little Rich Girl", when the Tipton family loses all of their money; and also in the episode "The Prince & The Plunger", when London's school hosted a father-daughter dance
At the age of 15, she met Maddie Fitzpatrick, who eventually becomes her best friend. At one point, London enrolled at Maddie's Catholic school, Our Lady Of Perpetual Sorrow. Later on in the series, London was expelled because she did not attend her classes, so she is forced to go to Cheevers High School. Then her father has her attend Seven Seas High, a high school program on the S.S. Tipton, because on a ship, she will not be able escape to another place (except by helicopter or submarine, but Miss Tuttweiler and Mr. Moseby monitor both her escape routes closely). London also is not so smart. In The Suite Life on Deck episode "Sea Monster Mash", she says that Maddie used to do all the work for her, but in "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", Cody Martin helps her with her project, but she ends up working with Nia and they make French fries with their projects combined.

Like Cody, Bailey is very intelligent. Miss Tutweiller stated that her application for the ship was the most impressive of all, much to Cody's dismay. She is also very cheerful and shows fascination of the world around her. She is friendly, optimistic, and caring. She also has a deep love for her animals, in the episode "Swede Life" it is even stated that during hunting season she goes out into the woods to warn the animals. Bailey hates lying and always feels guilty of even the smallest tricks she does. Bailey enjoys corn cob art and misses her hometown Kettlecorn in Kansas. Bailey has also shown to be fanatical around celebrities such as Hannah Montana and Jordin Sparks.

Maddie is the teenage candy-counter girl at the Tipton Hotel, a cashier at the Cluck Bucket, manager of the Camp Tipton Daycare Center, and a counselor for her school's summer camp, Camp Heaven on Earth.
While she comes from a lower class family, Maddie is very hard-working, outspoken, and intelligent, but in several episodes, she is shown as being selfish and uses London Tipton and her money and power (mostly at the cause of London's own selfishness or stupidity), though she always loses out when this side of her personality is shown. Though she has a firm will and independent mind, she is easily bribed by London into doing or saying almost anything. She is Irish Catholic and attends a Catholic school called "Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow" (A name taken from the fourth season of and later, attends Cheevers High with Zack, Cody, London, and Nia. London often provokes her, saying that she has ugly hair and clothes and often treats her like a servant, as in the episode Footloser, usually bribing her with money. Maddie also babysits Zack and Cody, and gets along well with their mother, who sees Maddie somewhat like a daughter. Zack has a huge crush on her. She is a strong supporter of environmental causes. She is left-handed and she has asthma.
she was gone helping at a summer camp called "Camp Heaven on Earth"; after that, she spent a semester in Antarctica. It was later revealed in Team Tipton that she was in Antarctica saving the penguins. She was absent for a numerous number of episodes and was replaced with Nia Moseby. However, she returned in the episode Team Tipton. She left again after Team Tipton only because of Disney Channel airing the episodes out of order. She returned again in the episode Foiled Again. In Lip Synchin' in the Rain, a recurring joke is made that when she says she looks like Sharpay from High School Musical, no one else sees the resemblance She will not return as a main character on the spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck However, sh . In "Maddie on Deck", she meets Bailey Pickett , and they quickly become friends. They go to a castle and the prince sees Maddie and wants her to be his date. But it turns out, he is only 8. Maddie accidentally accepted a gift, letting the prince marry her. The only way was for a peasant (Zack) to battle against the prince. In the end, he beat the prince and won Maddie's heart. Also in "Maddie on Deck", Cody stated that Maddie saved up her babysitting, cashier money, and the money between the cushions, just to buy a bus ticket to the airport, London paid for her plane ticket (coach of course).
