Bit of a strange concept, so bear with me....

The tale of the resident sword-inhabiting apparation, Kayoka, is a long one. Born into high society, she became a potent wielder of magecraft and subsequently found her natural talent of advising many of the rulers and teaching others. So potent became her silver tongue that she was often blamed by influential figures for influencing the local daimyo into making decisions that negatively affected them, and soon thereafter, people were hunting her, and after one failed assassination attempt, she fled her hometown. Yet pursuit only continued with the considerable bounty that found itself aimed at her. With blade and tome, she desperately tried to hold her own, but found that she was doomed, and thus bound herself to a legendary sword held by one of her enemies, feigning her own demise in the process. Years later, her presence and soul remained, allowing her to project herself back into the terrene plane with all of her magical capabilities intact thanks to the powerful artifact she found herself bound to. All she had to do was shrink and devour the wielder, leaving the blade, Janivus, known as a cursed sword. Those who take the epic artifact up will experience incredible power and companionship alike. Though fail to listen to their new ghostly attendant's words will soon find themselves as sustenance for a very eager spectre. Worse comes to worse, she can wield it herself for a brief time before needing to recover energy, as maintaining a physical form able to interact with the rest of the world is taxing, especially in combat or other forms of excitement.. On an unrelated note, shrunken prey tend to be a potent energy source~
