Geldri

tl;dr - The grandmother to Balis Nyx. An 'Old One' of legend and story that slumbers through efforts by lesser gods, but interacts with existence through figments of her sleeping imagination. Unimaginably powerful and terrifying being. Not meant for casual play, intended for canon storyline advancement of the Avenging_Church setting.

Long description -

There exists a collection of books that has not often been duplicated throughout the universe. Only a meager few, mostly of high universal standing, have privileged access or ownership to copies of these tomes. One of which is the renown Balis Nyx, whom is the proud owner of an original first edition set for soon to be understandable reasons. What do these books detail and contain that makes them so valuable and yet hard to come by?

Descriptions of the original 12 beings that lived before reality itself had even become a concept. The Elder Gods. The Old Ones. The Eldritch Evils. And in one very personal aspect, the extended family to Balis Nyx. Namely, Geldri'Gonthuch. Dear ol' Granny Geldri.

Each of the twelve books is the single most comprehensive and detailed collection of information on these twelve beings outside of the scant few that have actually lived through a meeting with them. Which, given that not a single one has been 'awake' since before the dawn of creation, is a very small and select few.

Did you notice the comment about the Old Ones presumably sleeping? This is not a lightly given elaboration of their condition. The fledgling creators of all existence are eternally vowed to never slack in their tasks of condemning each of the twelve to an eternal, endless slumber. So powerful are these elder beings that it is simply inconcievable of a way to destroy them. Even to each other, they are inseperable from life. Such vastness in scope of their power and presence, that even their wayward thoughts as they dream have enough potency to dismiss all life in the universe. Lovecraft did his best to allude to the terrible might of these beings, did you ever bother to listen?

Now to bring this all into perspective of the moment, to the now and understanding. Of the betrayal by Geldri to her brethren by alluding to the lesser beings a method to contain and control these endless, living forces of destruction. The exact reasoning to why Geldri betrayed all of her kin and allowed even herself to be submitted to slumber has never been discovered even with communication to the Umbral Mother, Geldri.

Yes, communication. Nothing in creation is capable of stopping the will of these creatures even as they slumber, and because of it.. Geldri often allows mere figments of her sleeping imagination, the tiniest sparks of her omnipotent power, to make itself tangible and known. An embodiment of herself with just the smallest ounce of her true power, and yet still capable to shroud everything in ruin without even a twitch of her finger.

Not that these representations of her have any inkling of desire to do such a thing. In their admitted honesty, they are discarded thoughts by their sleeping originator that have decided to do nothing more than relax and enjoy themselves. To drink tea and sit on porches, or listen to beautiful music played on a late night, Memphis street. They identify as Geldri and yet are adament of claiming to being nothing remote to the original. Just a passing thought that exists for a few millenia before being discarded and a fresh one created anew to take its place. All in the eternal dream that Geldri actually resides.

She most often displays herself as a stout woman of physically fit build and height. Often around 6 ft. to 6' 2", with a somewhat aged but respectable appearance. Salt and pepper colored hair, eternally patient features and personality.
