~Background Information~

Yukari Yakumo is quite the mysterious woman. With a wide array of tricks, powers, and a nearly endless amount of power to pull from she is quite formidable! Hailing from a land she calls "Gensokyo" she aims travels from place to place, world to world, and dimension to dimension in a never ending effort to sate her curiosity, boredom, and whimsy. Mischeivious, intelligent, powerful, and adaptable, she is not one that any being would really want to be on the bad side of. Despite her incredibly bloated list of positives, the "Youkai Sage" as she puts it is not without her vices. Her wanderlust can be quite problematic for those she leaves at home, often times not be present for when her precious home is in peril. She's also...quite lazy and laid back when she isn't doing something for herself. She spends an unusual amount of time asleep for one such as herself! Regardless it can be a 50/50 when she means well or is there to present a problem for the heroines of her homeland, or even those beyond her reach. The only thing that can be certain is that the woman is always plotting something! From aiding in the creation of the very land she now resides in, to being an inconsistent and uncontrollable force that exists there, often times the only thing one can do when in her presence is hope to keep her interested long enough before she makes that person her toy!

~Personality~

Yukari can be quite the difficult woman to get along with at times. While she can be cordial when she wants to be she usually has zero patience with others whom cross her. Especially those whom she has no immediate use for, or can gain no amusement from. As far as youkai do how however, she is quite a bit more merciful to those who are bothersome. Considering the amount of power she always has at her disposal her body count is shockingly low! Sometimes that may be due to how she often time disposes of annoying individuals. Regardless she tends to only be mischevious around those that she enjoys the company of. She relishes in teasing others, speaking and acting evasively, and observing how notable individuals handle obstacles they encounter. She can be described as being quite voyeuristic although in most cases she derives very little sexual pleasure from such activities.

Manipulation of Boundaries

At this point, interested parties will likely be wondering why this woman is known as the "Gap Sage." A gap is her most obvious, and appearant trait. The sight of two floating ribbons followed by a rift staring back out at an individual is often times the final thing a party that has earned her ire sees. Through her Gaps she is able to travel to any place instantly, any time instantly, and any dimension she desires to see. But it's far more incredible than simply being described as portals, as Gaps are the most simple application of her ability! Yukari is able to manipulate anything that can be described as a 'boundary'. The boundary of of a finish line, the boundary of a med student's goals. The boundaries that seperates dimensions. And even the boundary of life and death. This ability has numerous applications. And should she need to, she will not hesitate to use them! Often times though she has little interest in using this ability too liberally should they not be necessary, as she tends to have much more fun with situations that are at least a little bit outside of her control.

Elder Youkai

Youkai are, in essence beings that are given form and matter based upon humans believing in them originally. They are intrinsically tied to humanity in almost every case. Things like rumors, or seasoned legends spread by word of mouth or text can even give rise to a Youkai that did not exist until then. As such they are durable beings who cannot simply be killed by stabbing them, and must be exorcised by those blessed by the gods, or starved to death. A tricky thing considering their diet is mostly made up of by humans. Most of them are very simple creatures. Yukari however, is no such simple being. As a youkai ages, should they avoid the pitfalls of their kind, they can sometimes even outgrow the dependancy on humans and become Greater Youkai! It can be hard to tell if she's truly the same as other Youkai though, as she does not consume humans, or diminish in strength should humanity's fear in her wane. She has a nearly endless supply of magical energy, her body is so tough that convential weapons at best just damage her clothing and annoy her. Heat, Cold, and even the vaccuum of space at worst just become a touch uncomfortable.
