Figment

The self-appointed leader of The_Figments, this creature is hell-bent on taking over the world and gobbling up little children, along with all manner of other unsavoury things, and is constantly coming up with new plans and ingenious tricks to throw a spanner in the works of, well, just about everyone. Why? Because they're nightmares, damnit!

When Figment isn't personally engaged in sowing chaos, there's usually at least one minion acting on its orders.

Our world is being invaded. Nobody knows how these denizens of the realms of imagination got into the physical plane - they used to just lurk in the imaginations of children, giving them nightmares about being gobbled up by some monster that lives under the bed - but now they're here in the flesh! Twisted, megalomaniacal shapeshifting entities that want nothing more than to sow chaos and gobble up little children!

They'd probably be terrifying if they weren't so utterly useless at it.

Okay, they can take on just about any form they want, and they can fit another creature inside their bellies easily enough - they're so stretchy and flexible, in fact, that a number of people could fit quite comfortably in there, and the belly walls will resist just about any amount of wriggling.
Problem is, like all figments, they're stretchy and flexible enough for their prey to work their way back up their throats again if they can find a way to stop themselves being swallowed back down - and since stretching doesn't bother them, usually all that entails is waiting for them to go to sleep! Couple that with their habits of making grand villainous plans that would make Skeletor blush with their sheer incompetence, and you have the least scary nightmares you could possibly imagine.
