A demon!

But this one's different! I Swear!

See, Father Im is one of those unfortunate demons who, when his demonic master was slain, had enough power to stay on his own. However, he was different, even then. Possessed of free will, and an unusually kind nature, he was freeing the prisoners they'd kept, before they could be slain, at the whim of his master, Mephistolephes. And, as it happens, one of those prisoners was a priestess, a priestess of the Lady of Moonlight.

Now, this takes a little explaining. There is Order, and there is Chaos, good and evil. But both need to be maintained. Without each other, neither is what it might be. Evil by itself is purely destructive, eventually making what it has taken worthless. Good, on its own, also becomes stagnant and useless. So, there is a Balance to be maintained... and the Lady of Moonlight is the emissary of the balance, of the gods and demons who choose no side in the grand conflict.

So it was that, this priestess, seeing potential in Imhrakis Va, stayed the blades of the paladins. She asked him if he wished to live, and told him that to do so, he'd have to let her bind him... and, Im did not wish to die. So, he submitted. One master was traded for another... or in this case, a mistress.

Im was imprisoned, for a year, and every day this priestess visited him. She told him of her adventures, of the Lady, and of the Balance. Im had never truly enjoyed working for Chaos... but Law had no appeal at all. Balance seemed the key. When he was granted his freedom... he didn't leave.

He stayed, studying under the priestess who had spared him. He learned the ways of the Church of Moonlight, and eventually became a priest... but he was still a demon. He needed a release.

Balance, though, needs warriors to maintain it. So it was that he was sent out, at times, to alter the balance between good and evil, keeping them from growing too powerful, keeping both from falling to the other at times. And so it has been for hundreds of years, now.

Father Im is a ghost story, at the church, now. Someone rarely seen, rarely spoken with. He's used to scare the young acolytes who misbehave, and there are endless rumors about him. BUt he is real... sometimes, late at night, he might be met in the library. Or sometimes he may be seen at dinner. Most are somewhat afraid of him, and those who learn of his nature are all a bit wary of him. However, when they actually speak to him, they learn that he's a friendly enough sort. Playful, in his way, mischievous and prankish, with a quick, biting wit, he's easy enough to befriend, if you should meet him. Unless, you know, you're a prick. Still! He's sought out fo advice and help, and he still has his work. Recently, that has been collecting evil artifacts and the like, and binding them away.

He's also a diplomat! Its not uncommon to see him in some noble court or another, representing balance. Sometimes he is also an assassin, but those times are less common. And well, sometimes he must be... persuasive. With that in mind, he can be rather seductive if need be, and he is quite charming. He can sing, and play an instrument, and dance too. He prefers waltzes, but he can do anything really.
