Physical Appearance
Like most gryphons, Evander has the body of a big cat, and the head, wings and talons of a bird of prey, in his case a falcon or hawk; his ears resemble those of a horse or ass. The feathers on his head and neck are mahogany brown, which fade to creamy beige the closer one gets to his belly, standing in contrast with the greyish-brown fur of his mammalian hind quarters which resemble those of a small lion or puma. On his wings, his marginal, secondary and primary coverts are a chestnut brown, gunmetal and ashen grey, respectively, while his tertials, secondaries and primaries go from dark grey to gun metal to almost pitch black, respectively. On tail feather, the upper tail coverts share the same hue as his hind quarters, while his under-tail coverts are beige; his deck feathers share the same color as the primaries on his wings. Under his tail feathers runs a long tail that ends in a small tuft of black fur. The gryphon's beak and talons are an inky grey hue, and his eyes are like a pair of shining rubies.

Evander is a bit on the small side for a theriomorphic gryphon; if one were to measure him, they would see that he only comes up to 2 feet, 9 inches (84 centimeters) at the withers. His build is leans on the slender side, having more lean, toned muscle than bulk or fat. Combined with his short stature, this makes his wingspan of 10 feet (3.05 meters) look large for a creature his size. Were he to lay flat on the ground, his total body length from the end of his beak to the tip of his tail would be about 7 feet, 3 inches (2.21 meters), 30 inches of which are made up of his tail.

While clothes aren’t an absolute necessity for someone covered in feathers, Evander does have a few things he wears anyhow. On his head he has a faded black flat cap, and perched on his beak is a circular framed pince-nez with rather thick lenses. Around his neck he has a bone charm with runic carvings on a simple string, over which he wears red scarf.


Personality
Evander is a quiet, conservative fellow who likes things neat and organised, and keeps his day in a relatively normal routine; he dislikes interruptions and delays, and becomes visibly irritated when a last-minute change is made. He can appear emotionless and analytical when one first meets him, as almost anything or anyone new he encounters is subjected to cold, unrelenting scrutiny and sarcasm. He doesn’t intend to be mean or upset people, but his pessimistic outlook on life causes him to doubt people’s sincerity. However, once someone gets to know Evander and proves that they aren't an uncultured brute, he becomes almost an entirely different person. While he remains rigid with schedules and his daily routine, his cold, cynical gaze is replaced with a dry, genial sense of humour and a person who is rather open to a good chat. His sarcastic quips become more light-hearted, and Evander’s mood as whole seems to lift when he’s in the presence of someone who has earned his trust.
