A character in my World_of_FUbN, Ethelinda is a woman who like manipulating those around her, a the while keeping her hidden in plain sight.
The serpentine woman is a supporter of the vile Queen that currently torments the land. Ethelinda herself is actually one of the "princess" under the command of high princess Gunnhildr. She had the task of subduing a town...using whatever methods she saw fit. She'd end up using her magic and womanly wiles to do so.
She took control of the local shrine maidens, using her magic to overcome their minds. After filling their heads with her instructions, she used magic to disguise herself, pretended to be one of the shrine's two maidens. Disguised Form. Through the maidens, she slowly began taking over the minds of the populace to the point she could almost do whatever she wanted in the town. She doesn't abuse her power over the people too much, such would get her discovered...and as a princess, eventually hunted.
She keeps herself hidden within the shrine, using it as her home will she uses the townsfolk like her pawns, she doesn't have enough power to take over the populace 100%, so she focuses on the maidens and key figures in the town to keep the people on the high princess's leash. All this said, the princess has had a few warriors and shinobi come looking for her. Trickery is her main defense, using the maidens and the populace to lure her would be assailants into traps....in which she either tries to take control of them or falling that, wrap them up an dumping them into her stomach!
