In a parallel universe, humans underwent a series of mutations that quickly spread through the population. They were largely undiscovered until the latter half of the century, at which point culture began to be shaped heavily by these traits. It is estimated that approximately 25% of the population contains the dominant gene, greatly enhancing strength, metabolism, and most influencial of all, the ability to consume large amounts of food whole. The recessive gene, found in the other 75% of the population, reduces these traits. These individuals are more timid, have a lower metabolism and require far less nutrients to survive. Both of these genes result in the individuals gaining heightened sensation through various parts of the body - the dominant gene enhances sensation within the body, the recessive enhances tactile sensation on the surface.

Before the turn of the century, society and laws were shaped by the majority - the strong exploited the weak, though a sense of self preservation of the species often dominated, times of violence, revolt, and consumption of their weaker, more timid fellow beings lead to political strife. Old laws that indemnified the strong and murderous and punished the families that lost their own were struck down, and replaced with new laws that were virtuous and just. Society was reforged as a joint partnership between the two types, the strong protecting and treasuring the weak, both discovering mutually beneficial ways to coexist. Hard and fast laws that promised justice for unjust acts were the guiding hand to this partnership.

In modern times these types of people are colloquially known as predator and prey, however the politically correct term p-type and np-type are used whenever possible. P-types typically have larger builds, more accentuated with body types fit to handle their increased physical prowess and demands. Np-types are typically of normal or diminutive stature compared to P-types, and far less capable of immense physical feats. Most importantly, P-types and Np-types are able to coexist through intimacy involving their heightened sensations inside and outside of their bodies, colloquially known as V-spots. To enhance the experience, pharmaceuticals are typically taken, prolonging or heightening the experience.
