Ende

Ende is a curious, if somewhat voracious, mermaid from an ocean in the far north. As such, the cold does not bother her one little bit and, thanks to intense migrations taken by her tribe, she's seen her fair share of warm waters to the point those won't bother her either.
When seeing something she fancies, the ever-curious mermaid has a tendency to investigate it from up close, poking and prodding it or even talking to it in the expectation it will answer. This can get her into trouble but it has just as often allowed her to find all sorts of various trinkets or doo-dads lost from ship or washed from the shores of ancient and fallen cities. Ende's tribe recognized her peculiar talent for scavenging, offering her some leeway in how often she could stray from the tribe just for the various objects or creatures she may return with.
All that scavenging uses up a lot of energy, so if the thing she zooms up to and says 'hello' looks tasty, they may end up as a warm squirming lump of flesh bulging out of that cerulean tail of hers - one final lesson that 'inquisitive' and 'innocent' does not preclude 'dangerous'.
