Not so long ago, but most assuredly far away, a nation rose in power. They developed a new technology, a means of mass-producing war machines the likes of which their world had not seen before. Machines, though, is perhaps incorrect. These machines were as much biological as mechanical, thirty or more feet tall, wielding massively over-sized weapons with ease. Their pilots knew and showed no mercy, no pity, no fear. Berserkers, armed to the teeth.
.... it should be no surprise that their nation won the wars they found themselves in. They conquered much of their world. Not entirely, though..... their Giant Soldiers, while effective, were not invincible, and they lacked a certain sense of self-preservation. This, naturally, is a definite flaw. They could be killed, with some effort, and enough explosives or cunning tactics. Tanks COULD fight and kill them effectively.
Even so, when it looked like they would just steamroll the armies of the world, they stopped, for reasons unknown. Something changed. They seemed content with what they had. Content to rule their chunk of the world, and what a big chunk it was. Still, it was surprising, and bought their remaining opponents time to rearm, rest, and recover.
What no one knows is that there was a source to their technology. It's not something they made, but something they stole. Or, rather, borrowed without asking. It's hard to move what they found, the originals and the machinery... but the blanks, and the machines to make more, well, those were very, very useful to them. And then.... and then, one day, the originals were GONE. A whole chunk of the installation they had unearthed had VANISHED.
And, somewhere else in the universe, Elah had woken up. Alone, in an unfamiliar place, with no real memories, but perfect functionality. She could talk, read, and feed herself, and generally tend to her needs, from the word go. She just.... didn't remember anything.
Fortunately, she didn't HAVE to. She had a friend.... a very LARGE friend. Thirty-feet of gorilla-ish mech, with thick, burly arms tipped in large, rending claws, a pair of stubby back legs, and a short, stubby tail, with a simplistic face, really just a pair of glowing blue eyes and a large, simple maw carved into it. The thing is plated in several inches of unknown metal, here and there, and on its back there are a pair of large, dragonfly-ish wings... not for flight, but serving SOME purpose.
Elah looks somewhat similar. She, too, has a tail, though hers is longer, tipped in a sort of petal-shape. She looks otherwise human, mostly, though her hair is an unusual lilac hue, and her eyes are a bright, silvery green. Her skin is fair, her teeth white, and her ears are... well, pointed. And, set into her back, are a pair of slits, from which dragonfly-ish wings can emerge, perfectly capable of flight in her case. All of this is wrapped up in a simple, silvery bodysuit, though her wing-slits and her tail are left exposed.
Anyway. Elah and her friend are... here, now. WHerever here is. They don't know anyone, or much of anything. Money, for one, is an alien concept, and nudity isn't exactly.... well, she doesn't see anything special about clothes being on or off. Though, ah. Certain sights will make her blush. For now, though, she and her friend are just trying to make their way, and to keep on keeping on.... wherever life may have led them, now.
