This alt will eventually be the main world for any of my storyline/serious rps. Hell, even tabletop games could work here. I just have a lot more typing to do. Feel free to ask any questions you can think of! Also, if you spot a grammar/spelling error, please speak up!
"The world turns endlessly....as does the emotions of those who lives upon it....
Must it always come to this....this hatred...it festers all around us....
Without an end.....it grows and hungers....we as people...we must not let it consume us all...."
Excerpt from Empress Sanaki meeting with her highest knights in her private chambers.
The Rising Tide, the Storm approaches.
Eawara, a world held loosely together.
The story of Eawara begins with two nations. The Sundance Province, and the Principality of Draka. The relations between these two people had never been good, the people sharing vastly different ideals. Sundance was ruled through peace, Empress Sanaki came to power after her displays of diplomacy during the time of a new ruler to be crowned. The people saw Sanaki was 'Power through Peace' personified. Draka's current King was hastily crowned in respond to the previous King's untimely death, Draka was always politically unstable due to a number of things. During the country's early years, the king's were rather tyrannical, and the country wasn't able to fully recover from the governmental abuse. The sour relations came along when Sundance tried to help ease the economic devastation, they were less then successful. A lot of people weren't even to the on there feet, Sundance failed to keep true to there words.
Fast forward a few years...the relations continue to degrade, Draka nearly started a civil war, but the King had somehow manage to focus the rage of the people elsewhere.....the smaller countries around themselves. The King of Draka then gave the first order. War was on. Draka began violently take over smaller outlying city states, the conquest eventually become the Draka Dominion. As the war raged on, talks about securing the borders came across the table in Sundance. Sanaki wasn't about to attack anyone.....but she did order a general defense plan be developed in case the worst happened. Smaller outlying countries came to Sanaki, Sundance being the strongest country on that end of the map. This alliance made the Dominion think twice about starting further trouble. Over the years, the Sundance Province grew itself. It peacefully let the smaller countries become part of Sundance, giving the rise of the Sundance Empire. During this time of fragile peace, the Empress called upon a woman to be the guiding light of her Realm. This woman was a priestess, her name Elena Springs. Elena was gifted with white magic beyond imagining, it's if the Goddess herself had been her mother. This priestess brought her light around the two realms......leaving miracles in her wake.
The Whirlwind of Destruction. The War begins.
The Draka Dominion began to invade the Sundance Empire. War had finally came knocking. At first, Sanaki's knights were able to hold the line....but Draka will always win in a war of attrition. Slowly, the borders of the Empire began to be squeezed by Draka. Villages destroyed, Cities razed, this war seemed to want to claim everything in it's wake. The Empress and her general scrambled to find something to stop the war, as they didn't see themselves winning.....then.....a chance meeting lead to the next legend of Sundance being born.....a man named Askr.
It was a clear, moonlit night at Sundance castle, the Empress had sent her guards away from her castle top garden. She needed to think by herself, the day had been long and tiring for her, she needed to unwind herself a bit. As she looked to the stars, a figure called out to her. She knew not who it belonged to, but this person didn't reveal themselves right away. You'd think she'd scream for her guards....but for whatever reason, she didn't. The world of Sundance was about to be flipped on it's head. The resulting talk between the figure, who after getting her word to not scream revealed themselves as a man by the name Askr, and the Empress... got her a single soldier for her army, but everything about the man told her he was far from ordinary. Her instincts couldn't have been more right. Though this Askr and the main Sundance army wouldn't get along. Why? It's time for a brief break from the story.
Sundance and Draka....one mostly female, the other male. For as long as anyone can remember, it's had always been this way, and for reasons people have long forgotten. Sundance was mostly women, so the sudden emergence of a man they knew nothing about wasn't a welcome sight, by they'd follow the Empress's decree to have this man fight with them. The Captain of the unit he put into, was headed by a paladina named Uli. She was the most resistant to Askr joining. She even challenged him to a fight......in which the knights
quickly can to know Askr wasn't normal....under any sense of the word. Uli came at him with her great-sword...and Askr didn't raise a finger to stop the blade. Upon impact, he was bleeding sure, it didn't change his cold hard stare at Uli, she raised her sword again before it soundly went flying skyward. Askr had jumped forward, and knocked the sword from her hands. No one had time to register that he had even moved. Askr seemed to have this....aura around him, a presence saying he was invincible, or at least wounds don't seem to faze him. After that, Uli was always giving him the odd jobs, then her unit was moved to the front lines. Their first mission, hold Dawngate.
Siege at Dawngate
Dawngate was a fortress town near the border of the Empire, and was coming heavy attack. It was holding....but the stone walls can only take some much before they give. The siege of Dawngate lasted a few weeks. Although Dawngate would eventually fall, the siege would end up taking longer then expected, by
both sides of the conflict. No one saw Dawngate holding for more then a single week, it held for three. Why? The actions of one, Askr, he'd soon show how brutal he could be. Each night....it was like he hunted the Draka soldiers. Groups would end up going on a patrol.....then be found dead by sun up. Uli would always lose track of the man, eventually she begins rumors of him being a spy. The Draka would find a different group of men dead each morning, while it didn't directly factor to the fort holding out longer....however the fear it created was more then enough to slow progress. Back in the Sundance camp Uli would find and confront Askr about his whereabouts, in front of a few of her more trusted soldiers. Askr simply replied. "A phantom instills fear....fear distracts." Uli isn't satisfied with this answer, and brings up him being a spy. He laughs it off, replying with this. "A ghost with a blade, he hunts at night. While he may not take many...the silence of the dead is loud enough to be heard and felt." Uli is more confused by his words, she orders him watched. Night fell, and once again Askr was off....though this time he doesn't try to lose the girl sent to watch him...she is the first to see what he is capable of. He ambushes a group of 5, killing them all before an alarm could be raised. 3 more would die in a similar fashion an hour later. Askr the returns to camp, the soldier who watched.....wouldn't be the same after that, becoming a bit fearful of the man. She brings word to Uli of the events of the previous night. Uli could sees that this knight wished she hadn't seen what happened. The eight killed were all but shredded. Uli now understood the words of Askr. He wasn't being a spy, he was hunting the enemy....like a monster would. Soon the order is given to evacuate and fall back from Dawngate. Though the fear of 'The Demon' had begun in the Draka ranks...
A Shining Light, The Battle of Bruhl
When Uli's forces came up against Draka forces, was in the small town of Bruhl. The second battle in which Askr's tale is written. Draka had locked it's teeth into the growing town, the forces pushing one another every few days, Uli's troops were to be relief for the current forces holding the town. Or.....at least that was the plan at first. At first the town was mostly under the control of Draka when they arrived. This looked like Draka would eventually win out, the same as the fall of Dawngate....then she appeared. Elena Springs stepped into the barracks, none knew how she came to be there. At her side was him, Askr. Safe to say Uli was very confused at the appearance of both of them! Uli bows to Elena as the woman waved her formalities off. "Calm yourself Uli, you have this bear at your disposal." The priestess referring to Askr. Uli looks between the two, demanding an explanation. Elena then reveals, that
she was the one who sent Askr to find the Empress, thusly leading him to fight for Sundance. She had found the man in critical condition, she was the only reason he still lived. Uli is dumbfounded, she then asked why Elena sent him to find the Empress. It was shortly thereafter getting Askr back on his feet. A Draka scouting party found her.....they didn't last long along the fury that Askr then unleashed. Such strength, such an ability to quickly act, Sundance needed more soldiers like him. Elena explained that he may act strangely at times, but he swore to defend herself and her beliefs that day. Elena then turned to face Askr, and uttered one command. "Askr, this city of Bruhl....the Dominion may not have it." Then Askr lightly bowed, and left the tent. Uli would need time to process what she just learned...she then sent Elena to treat the wounded she could.
The Battle of Bruhl was about to come to an end. Uli, Askr, and other knights took the field, moving into the town on two fronts. One Lead by Uli herself, the other spearheaded by Askr. Both eventually came under attack by Draka, Uli's side holding firm and Askr's was slowly giving up ground. An archer managed to nail a captain on the Draka side, causing the rank to slowly fall apart on Uli's side. Once they pushed back her enemies, she and a few knights doubled back to go reinforce Askr's front. They'd arrive to see a horrifying sight. While the sight of fallen knights was painful....it looked like someone twisted commanded the Draka forces....dead civilians lay amongst the knights. Though Askr seemed to be missing from the bodies. Some surviving knights said Askr told them to flee before their ranks completely gave out. They didn't see him falling back with them. A few tense, and quiet moments go by. Uli and her knight begin to look for survivors before they hear a child's scream, then see someone get knocked through a fence. A Draka Knight staggers back to his feet, Askr then climbs through the fence hole he made. The Draka knight was panicking, and then dropped his sword and ran to Uli, he surrendered. Askr slowly looks to Uli, had he not surrendered to her, that man surely would have been killed by Askr. Uli leaves the prisoner to her knights before Askr waves her over, then a child is helped through the fence hole by Askr, the child covering her eyes. Askr had told her to keep them closed, no matter what. She follows him to a mostly undamaged house, he moves some debris in front of the door. He then goes into the home, Uli right behind him. Uli couldn't believe what she was seeing. Two battered Sundance Knights between her and Askr.....and a large group of surviving civilians. She turns to Askr, he then says to get them out of the village, some of the civilians have injuries. Uli snaps out of her trance and her, Askr, and the two others knights escort a group of about 30 civilians out of Bruhl. This day became the first Sundance victory over the Dominion.
Back at camp, the two knights tell their captain what had happened. That Askr told them to hold that house. He then by himself started fighting Draka forces, while escorting civs to the house. He'd hand off a few, then go look for more. Askr manages to single-handily fight off a platoon's worth of soldiers long enough to safely evacuate 30 people. Uli comes to the conclusion, that she as Captain, needed to say something publicly to everyone in her unit about him. The following day as the fight for Bruhl slowly drew to a close, she with Askr at her side, they pushed Draka to the gates and beyond. Never again would Draka attack Bruhl. Once the dust had settled, and Sundance claimed her first win over the Dominion, Uli rounded up her troops in the town square. She then asked Askr to step forward, her next words would change herself and her knights forever. She asks her knights to be silent and listen. She first publicly apologizes to Askr for the mistreatment by her hand at the start of the conflict. Then she re-accounts his actions at Dawngate and Bruhl. The only thing heard during this was Uli's words, not a soul else made a sound. Uli then turned to Askr, saluted, then gave him a
three full rank promotion, making him a First Lieutenant. Askr had just become her second-in-command. This sudden action stunned a good chunk of knights standing there, some against this sudden decision, and Uli wasn't done yet. She then tells Askr, that should she survive the war, she'd nominate him for the Sundance Cross. This silences the knights, the Sundance Cross was.....well, we know it by another name, the Medal of Honor. While his actions at Dawngate weren't worthy of such, his actions at Bruhl were very well worth of the Sundance military's highest honor. Though now, with the victory at Bruhl, the Sundance forces seemed to rally and began winning smaller victories across the map. They still needed a major victory though....
Disaster and Miracles at Indigo Plains. Elena's True Potential.
Uli forces would see action again upon the fields of the Indigo region. This would later become a very important site. Uli and Askr, along with the priestess Elena Springs, were sent to Indigo Plains were the longest battle of the war was taking place. However this battle was to soon draw to a deadly conclusion....for both sides of the conflict. Uli and Askr are up observing the battle from afar, trying to grasp the situation when a young knight comes to tell them that the generals have taken the field. Uli blinks,
generals?? Askr says this didn't bode well, that they should ready for a wall of steel to come their way. Uli agrees for now and deploys their troops in a defensive manner, the Askr himself at the front. Uli then sees that Askr's prediction seemed spot on, soon after some time an attack from Draka comes and slams into her forces. With Askr to lead him, he and the other knights fought them to a stand still. Askr had his front begin to slowly push in, hoping to punch a hole on one side, then collapse onto the other side. All was well when Askr and his knights broke through and slammed into the opposite flank. Then they spot another wave of Draka forces coming in, this force lead by not one, but three enemy generals. These generals, The Bear, Lion, Viper as they were known in Sundance. They wanted to see the rising heroes in Uli and Askr dead. The next few minutes would decide the war's outcome. Askr orders what was left of his group to continue dealing with Drakan forces between them and Sundance lines, if they were able, they'd return to fight with Askr again. None would return to aid Askr in time with the generals. The fight began with Viper and Askr in single combat but as the Viper began to give ground, the Lion joined the fray. Askr was able to reasonably hold the two off, but eventually the Bear's patience wore out he came at Askr. Askr, somehow, fought well against all three generals, but he'd began to slowly flatter. Then it happened, Askr's armor was pierced by the Viper followed again by the Lion. The next few moments would determine the fate of everything. Askr drops to his knees coughing up blood, blood-loss getting to him. The Bear raises his clay-more then brought it down upon the man, only for Askr to
catch it with his bare hand. The generals are shocked, he had lost a lot of blood, yet he can still resist?! The Bear tried pulling away his sword, but his couldn't pull it from Askr's grasp, then the blood soaked man slowly stood back up. He raised his head, revealing a blank expression on his face, then crushed the clay-more in his hand. The Bear staggers back, as Askr drops the broken sword to the ground. The Viper tries to put him down.....and losses his head. Askr in a seemingly uncontrollable burst of energy and rage, crushes the skull of the Viper through his helmet, killing him. A dark haze then began to come from Askr as the lifeless body of the Viper fell to earth. Then a pillar of this....purple-ish hue is seen from Uli's position on the field coming from where the generals and Askr had been fighting. Uli was watching from a hilltop and assumed its was magic of some kind. The priestess Elena is told to stay inside the tent she was in, but she demanded to see what was going on. She pushes her way to Uli's side, the knight startled by her appearance. What happened next, would burn a permanent scar on all who survived.
An explosion came from the pillar of energy, killing several of those around in the immediate area. Then a purple light began to move through the Drakan lines. Where this light went, death followed. Uli and Elena watched in horror as people fell to earth in the distance, whatever this light was, it wasn't friendly to the living. The light craved it's way through the ranks, sometimes looking like it would head there way. What like hours have gone by, but in mere minutes, several hundred lives had been taken. Then Elena's spine would shiver...something from above called out to her. Elena looked skyward and listened to the voice, looking around, it seemed she was the only hearing it. It told her to go into the field, and let herself go, use her inner miracle to stop the world. The message itself was cryptic, but she had a very good guess as to who the voice was. She hesitates as she the light turn and spin through the battlefield, but she begins to walk toward the chaos. Uli flips out, demanding the priestess come back only for Elena to turn and glare. "
She spoke to me. I'm going to do her will." Elena said and continued on. Uli is stunned,
she? Maybe the rumors are true if the priestess can hear
her. The young woman walked, and walked, inching ever closer to the center of the field. Then she stopped, held her hands to her heart. Then she began to release white magic into the world around her. Her hair flowing behind her, her clothes glowing, with the power she was to unleash. Then Elena lifted off the ground, and then suddenly a
massive pulse of white magic left her body in all directions. It washes over the earth and injured, healing all it touched. Both several Sundance knights and Drakan knight clamber back to there feet, still injured, but able to leave the field under their own power. Some of them thought that this field would be their final resting place. The wave washed over everything and everyone, amidst this holy pulse, the purple light had vanished. After that, both sides left the field of battle. Never again would steel clash here. Draka leaves entirely, and Sundance had finally claimed a major victory in the war, albiet none knowing what had actually transpired. Uli and her knight look over the bloody battlefield for survivors after the pulse of white magic. They find Elena exhausted but otherwise alright. Askr was found a bit away, unresponsive but alive. Elena and Askr, and a lucky few, are sent back to camp. Though the cost was high, Indigo Plains was the beginning of the end of the war.
The First Push, Empress Sanaki's Quiet Rage
Elena and Askr are still recovering from Indigo Plains, one from magical exertion and other for severe injury, Uli's unit had fought in a few more battles that began to push back the Draka's lines back to the border. Now came another pivotal moment in the war, the Empress herself would take to the field, much to Uli's dismay. Riding a wave of momentum Sundance push Draka further and further back, Sudance forces cam to the next hurdle, the Castle of Berminteg. Berminteg was a castle town that Draka had pretty much run over during the beginning times of the conflict.
