It's good to be a wolf.

You've always got buddies, for one. Wolves back wolves, and there's plenty around; even in the loneliest bars, there'll be a canine ready to break a chair over someone's head if you get in trouble. You rarely need to worry about becoming someone's snack (unless you really screw up): most preds aim lower down the food chain. And when it's you on the prowl, you're not so overtly threatening that you scare off the jumpy ones, which is great for getting girls...or gulping them down, if the night goes that way.

Ethan's no super-predator, but a wolf is a wolf, and you'd be just as likely to see a bunny's tail disappearing down his throat as bouncing against his groin. It's not personal for him, not usually. But sometimes he gets hungry -- too hungry to be satisfied by food that doesn't squirm -- and prey are just that. It's in his nature, just as it's in theirs to make a good meal. At least, that's how he sees it: the prey don't usually last long enough to form a rebuttal, unless you count indigestion.

Of course, plenty of girls don't end up as kibble; it's hard to have a meaningful relationship with sewage, and those with more than meat to offer are often spared the ignominity of ingestion. But you never know with wolves -- and while every girl likes to think that they're special, not like the other girls, many have found their only way to Ethan's heart is through his stomach...ending in a breakup far more literal than most.
