Scarlett, obviously at this point, has a bit of an issue. She was simply born this way and there's nothing she can really do about it. It confused her parents when their sweet little baby angel's eyes changed and she became a whining, crying, demanding little nightmare. The changes were sudden and without warning, too. Weeks with their darling, days with the troublemaker, one time there was even a whole year of peace for the family.
Scarlett's condition isn't medically documented or understood, but something a bit more magical. She is, in essence, the wielder of a split soul. Her whole nature revolves around the yin and yang that hold the duality of this universe together.
