Deona grew up in a world set in the near future, living in a neighborhood that was entirely average. Throughout her school life, her
parents wanted to make sure she spent less time on electronics and more time outdoors - which resulted in her getting heavily into
soccer. She carried the sport with her from primary school up through High School and graduated with good grades.
Despite her academic and fitness success, she had absolutely no idea what to do. This resulted in her enlisting with the military -
a significant shock to her friends and family. The last person in her family who served was several generations back, and everyone
figured her for an engineer or journalist. She took university classes while enlisted, and then war broke out between several
countries in the world she lived on.
Deona wound up serving three tours, got campaign medals, service medals, commendations, and got her degree as well. Due to her
smarts, she got higher profile military jobs, transferring upward into the more elite ranks, and because she was very fit, she could
handle being delta, commando, etc. This came with a price, however. War is messy. She lost friends, got some cybernetic implants,
and a lot of nightmares to go with it. She woke up screaming a lot after she initially came back.
She did get that engineering degree she wanted - but she couldn't sit still in a lab facility. She also knew she couldn't
go back in again, so she transferred to private security for an advanced engineering facility, and was helping out their experiments
every once in a while - the engineers all knew she had that degree after all. This is when the accident occured - society was on the verge
of inventing the warp drive. A mistake wound up in a dimensional rift accident, and everyone in the room disappeared. Deona
wound up in the Nexus.
Now she lives here, working a job that helps her afford a place to live and gets enough to put food on the table. She also attends
meetings with other vets in Nexus city, and wastes time at the Gym to distract herself. She goes to the shooting range often, and
occasionally will take a bounty job to hunt down psychotic predators and demons that are on the loose.
She'd prefer not to kill at all, but its what she knows, and she's very good at it. As an assassin, she can pick her own contracts
and limit the casualties. She hopes one day to retire and work a white collar job, but is skeptical that will happen, even in the
Nexus city.
