Delphineius

Ancient, mysterious, powerful, and mischievous. These are but a few terms that can describe the entity known as Delphineius. A creature of the oceans, born from the endless blue that watches over the waters of the world. It is unknown just when he came to be; only that he did.

Most people have never seen him, but those who have caught glimpses of him or had close encounters have been able to paint a picture of his general appearance.

--Appearance--

He resembles a dolphin, with dark gray skin and a lighter, cloudy gray underside. Broad pectoral fins spread out at his sides, their tips rounded but still triangular in shape. A crescent-shaped dorsal fin sprouts from his back, and at the end of his strong tail are his flukes, which are capable of propelling him through the water with incredible speed and grace.

The dolphin's eyes glow an ethereal blue, shining brightly even in the dark depths of the sea. In addition, he has elaborate glowing markings that decorate his body, particularly his melon (forehead). Sometimes his eyes and markings change color depending on his mood, or glow brighter or dimmer.

There are times when he takes a humanoid form. In these times, his dorsal fin usually shortens so that he may wear clothes if need be. His toes and fingers are flattened and square-tipped, and quite flexible. They fit against each other easily given their shape, making his hands and feet resemble fins, which helps when he swims in this form.

Sometimes he goes half-and-half, taking a shape not unlike that of a mer-person, but retaining his dolphin-like qualities. He sports the upper body and head of his anthropomorphic form, with the lower half of his strong dolphin form. He has two stomachs in this form, both of which are fully functional. He also retains the pectoral fins of his regular dolphin self, which are about midway between his upper and lower half.

In all forms, he maintains a smooth and toned look that somewhat belies the underlying musculature. He is a graceful and lithe creature, but he is still very strong, and it would be unwise to not acknowledge that.

--Powers--

Delphineius is not an ordinary dolphin by any means. He is an ancient, primordial being that has existed for untold eons, and has the ability to back it up.

He is much faster than his mortal kin; the thickness of the water doesn't even seem to affect him. He literally flies through the water, with the same ease as a bird in the air. Speaking of air, he also doesn't need it while swimming, allowing him to stay submerged for as long as he pleases.

In addition to exhibiting incredible physical strength, Delphineius also has great magical power. He can manipulate objects and creatures using telekinesis, levitate himself above the water, and control the currents.

He is even capable of changing his size at will and with no delay. One moment he could be small enough to fit in a fishbowl, and the next he could be a great leviathan capable of devouring ships. By default, however, he is about 9 feet long. He can also change the size of others, and potentially make them into a snack.

One thing that makes him stand out is his ability to grant wishes. With his incredible power, he is able to make any wishes come true, but he has his own rules when it comes to them. These tend to vary and fluctuate depending on his mood. Like a traditional genie, he usually only grants three wishes per person, but even that number isn't set in stone.

--Personality--

While his true motives may be unclear at times, Delphineius seems to be a kind and even playful being. He commonly appears around beaches to play with kids, and might show up to help sailors who are stranded or caught in a storm. However, he can also be mischievous, either playing pranks on fishers or acting like he is going to eat someone.

There darker shades of this light-hearted spirit, though. He finds humans and other sentients to be tasty, and might devour them at any moment. His ability to manipulate his and others' sizes certainly makes this easy. He might also steal them away, to engage in other strange activities...
