TLDR: Vigilante ghost who sucks the magic and/or soul out of anybody he deems "bad".

Sometimes, when you die, you go to Heaven. Sometimes, you go to Hell. Sometimes, you're reincarnated. And sometimes, rarer than all those fates, you stick around in this world as a ghost.. a phantom, a spirit, something separate from your physical body.

One such example of a creature who clings to this mortal coil, well past their expiration date, has made a name for their self in the public eye. They've long-forgotten who they are, how old they were when they died, how they died, what their old life used to be.. they even forgot, after some length of time, why they hadn't passed on in the first place. Instead, they found a new reason to stay among the living.. a form of entertainment that they could never have achieved while alive. They decided, perhaps on a whim one day, that they wanted
to become a Hero.

Believe it or not, that's not such a far-fetched dream for a ghost. Innately, they have abilities like flight, being able to disappear, materializing through walls, posession of both people and objects.. plenty of cool powers a Hero would love to have! And with a Hero Registration Department in most major metropolitan areas, it's easier than ever to sign up.

Of course, when this ghost in particular decided to register-- that is, this ghost, who had forgotten everything about their self, including their own name-- and the attendant behind the desk asked them for their name, all they could answer was, "What does it matter? I'm Dead." And wouldn't you know it, the smartass who took his information literally put his name down as "Dead", right there on the official registration papers. And from that point on, that became his official moniker; any time his antics were reported on by the News or the Official Hero Registry, they literally referred to him as "Dead".

This was fine for a while, but sometimes a ghost's idea of justice or punishment escapes the reasonable sense of those still living. "Dead" began devouring the souls of those he captured.. villains would suddenly appear after confrontations with the Hero, left on the steps of the police station, as lifeless husks. Stranger still, "Dead" also found that he could retain an actual, physical body for a short amount of time by finding people, creatures or objects with magical or inhuman power, and draining that power from them.

Suddenly, "Dead" began targeting villains specifically with magical or inhuman power to suck it out of them. He'd start looking for excuses to hunt individuals with those powers down.. even if they weren't villains. If they stole from a grocery store, if they skipped school, if they littered.. it didn't matter if they were actually a bad person or not, it didn't matter how old they were, he would deliver his very specific brand of "justice" to them and suck them dry. The ghost's self-serving self-appointment as both Judge and Jury quickly stripped him of his public title as a Hero, and branded him an Anti-Hero to the general public. But by that point, he'd stopped caring.. he was only interested in punishing those he deemed "bad", and became obsessed with using their power to fuel his physical body, even if for short bursts.

Unsurprisingly, crime rates have dropped since "Dead" became a lawless vigilante. For those of you weaker, law-abiding citizens of the city, it's become a safer place.. as long as you follow the rules. But when you step out of line, beware. Even the most heartless villains hide at night, now, fearing that
Dead is coming for them.

Somehow, it's another member of LyzKeep.

Never/Dislike It's possible for Dead to be prey, in the right circumstances, but he's also able to "turn the tables" on strong characters who'd normally be pred by sucking the power out of them.
