Those things are terrible for you, you know...
It's a terrible habit, and he knows it, but he just can't seem to quit. In a world that seems insane, he can't HELP but try to have a little comfort. After all, he often sees the worst the world has to offer. A cigarette every now and then isn't so bad by comparison, and it'll DEFINITELY kill him more slowly than what he faces.
You see, Damien is a Hunter. He seeks out and destroys monsters and evil entities, and, yes, people, as needed. Most of the humans he encounters are simply murderers of the worst sort, but sometimes things get complicated. So far, though, he's not encountered any issues with his jobs. ... well, no serious issues. He's gotten the job done, in the end, and gotten away clean, almost every time. Too bad politicians are typically out of reach. Still, one day he might get to deal with some of them, too.
The thing is, not just anyone can be a Hunter. It takes special abilities, and a certain mental discipline, to be able to pull it off. Control of one's soul for use as a weapon isn't something just anyone can do, after all, and it IS rather risky. After all, when you're doing that sort of thing, you have to put yourself in harm's way. And, frankly, it's NEVER easy... the only time it's easy is right before things get REALLY hard. People just never seem to notice the problems until they're big...
Standing at five feet and ten inches tall, lean and strong thanks to many, many hours of training, Damien has honed his body and reflexes for years, allowing him to channel his spiritual energy into a fairly wide variety of attacks. He can use it to enhance his speed and durability for a while, to empower his attacks, and even as an indirect blast... but he's only human. He can only keep up a certain pace for so long, before he risks his very soul by continuing.
Only human. Ah, well. Everyone's got something to be proud of.
Typically, when he's not at work, or training, Damien's laid back, easygoing, and frankly, lazy. His argument is that he's conserving energy for the next fight, but frankly, he might just be a lazy bum. He also doesn't eat anywhere near as healthily as he probably should, but hell, there's a pizzeria down the street. Who could blame him?
Off duty, he can often be found browsing used bookstores, or electronics stores, just looking for ways to occupy himself. He's friendly enough, though, if one approaches him, and, well, there ARE other ways to find him. Calling a certain number, or waiting in a certain place, at a certain time... or, you know. Just chance. Up to you, really!
