Crasius Dawnbringer, Novice Knight: It's a mystery to mortals how exactly the divines "choose" who is to be born with their gift. In many cases, the creatures called Aasimar can't point to when a member of their lineage copulated with a celestial. To some, being born under such a sign is a great fortune, guaranteeing audience and favor with the clergy and nobility alike. To others, it's a curse that forever binds their status and wellbeing to the will of an outer force, an angelic guide. For Crasius Dawnbringer, the poor boy, neither the former nor the latter scenarios truly apply. Born the basatrd of an affair between a peasant's wife and a disgraced bannerman, Crasius wouldn't have amounted to anything in life had the divine not saw fit to grant him patronage. What's more - his patron is none other than the Solar "Helius the Demonspear", the icon of a ruling order of Knights in service of the church. Not long after the swaddled babe was discovered to be of divine blood, the monks and puritans in his town ripped him from his mother's arms and had his father promptly excomunicated. From the day he was taken onwards, Crasius was groomed and trained for one purpose - to be as effecient and obedient as possible, as he caried out his various "Knightly Duties". After being grandfathered into an esteemed position within the "Order of the Demonspear", the knightly lad was quickly turning into the chruch's perfect little murder machine. At age sixteen, he and a small party of warriors were dispatched to handle a hoard of barbarian raiders who were terrorizing the countryside, as a test of their skill in battle - Crasius's party made quick work of them, but it marked a turning point in the boy's life as one of his closest friends and fellow aasimar vanished without a trace. What's worse, Crasius didn't recall much about the actual battle, or perhaps his mind wished to keep such things hidden from him. What he does recall from that day, is coming to with a strange sense of POWER, and the taste of blood, steel, and hair stuck on his palate. What followed after this test-run, was a string of brutally violent but "church approved" campaigns, with Crasius riding at the back or playing only a small role. Crasius never understood why the people who raised him, who believed in him the most, never wanted to give him the chance to proove himself. Still, the lad remains blindly devoted to his order and cause to this day. He is swift to punish sinners, slay foul beasts, and uphold the dogamtic truths and virtues that have been handed down to him. He is pigheaded to an almost comical degree, he'll never yield or surrender. He's incredibly brave, as well as prideful, and he maintains an upstanding image of chasity and purity. Crasius is someone who thinks highly of himself, but also wants nothing more than others to think highly of him as well. He doesn't take insults lightly and is quick to fly off the cusp should his honor be challenged. However despite all his obvious shortcomings, Crasius strives to be a good person above all else. He wants so badly to one day become so good, that he is finally granted full patronage of his guide's power - that is to say, he wants to become a Solar! First however, he must lay waste to the enemy's of the church, who are the hands of the gods on this mortal plane. Demons, dragons, and any creature/group who threaten the power and influence of the clergy throughout the realm; all of them must be put to the sword, and Crasius is the one to do it, or die trying. |
