Cicada

This character brought into being through A_Divine_Disaster.

A very strange unicorn indeed..... Nopony's ever actually managed to get a solid look at him. Every time anypony makes themselves known..... He runs away, as if absolutely terrified. One could speculate that it may have something to do with his broken horn, but they wouldn't be quite correct.....

You see, Cicada has a secret. He's not a pony at all. While his queen was leading the rest of his kind on an attack on Canterlot, he was hiding out underneath Manehatten, skulking in the underground waterways.... Cicada, is a changeling.

Yes, his strange fear of ponies is related to his shattered horn, but in truth, he's scared that they'd find out what he really is, and chase him away..... He'd learned how to feed on the residual positive emotions of ponies, rather than consuming their love, and controlling them, but with such a small source of sustenance, he can barely survive, and without contact, even for a little while, he'd starve. Oh, how lonely he is.... He can't stand the company of his own kind, controlling and to a degree, evil.... But the last time somepony discovered what he was, his horn was broken, and he was thrown out, presumably to die, with his insectoid wings crippled, into the wilderness.



So he lurks near pony society, never coming too close, for fear of rejection, but never able to go too far away.... For the risk of starvation. Occasionally, he'll have to move, because he worries ponies are getting too close to finding him, but it's a rare thing.....


He met Mahovalia, who fixed up his torn wings, but for some reason could not restore his broken horn. Staying with Maho now on occasion! And a bit more willing to trust ponies. Just a bit. ^ ^

He ran into Quiddly, and well... The changeling has been amazed by the kindness that the unicorn has shown him. He's no longer starving constantly, and he's even traveling with the stage magician! Things are looking up for Cicada, most definitely.
