A Philosophers Stone: He got it when he went into a dragons lair, The dragon traded the stone for a gold sword Chess had been given for self defense. The dragon did not know what it was, and neither does he. He wears it around his neck as a necklace under his sweater.

A Tome about Alchemy: A tome telling many secrets about alchemy and how to do them, The tome is locked however, and besides.. he can't read it.

Circleless Transmutation: Because of how he was born, He is attuned with Alchemy to the point that he does not need a circle, however.. He does not know this yet
Shadow Manipluation: If he is angered or in enough danger, He can use shadows as weapons or a way to flee.
Reforming: He can reform from being digested or, if he tries hard enough, reform his 'prey'

Is a slut for Doritos [So is his player ;}]
He is kind to anyone who he remembers being kind when he needed it

Chess will get sick if he eats to many fruits, grains, or vegitables. He is a carnivore after all
Chess is protective over friends
Chess has a more complicated backstory then I put, this backstory shows how his mother is not so bad..

Chess's story starts with his mother... and the fact she can not have children.

Kia was born with a medical problem... her body had not made a womb. She has a vaginal passage, but no womb... So she is destined to not have children. She had accepted that, until the day she met the love of her life, an anthro cat named David. She happily lived with him, but felt that she was failing him because of her inability to give him children, so... she begain researching and practicing Alchemy.
After a few years of non-stop training and learning, she became a local master of her arts, She did not need to draw a transmutation circle because she had made her entire body have tattoo's of a trasmutation circle, this made her able to not need the circle drawing.
Being a master was not bad, until she was caught up in an adventure with a few other masters, this adventure made her even more famous around the continant... Then she met death, who requested a deal... They play a game of chess and Death will bring someone back from the dead if she wins, she dies if Death wins... So, they played, and by a strange turn of events for Death, the living is who beat him.
Death was not very happy with losing, but he was a man of his word, so he offered to bring someone back... but she asked to be brought to this realms god so she can win against them and get something better. Death, believing this is where this human loses, agreed and took her there... and she played another game of chess, but only won again!
God was surprised at this, but agreed to grant the women one wish, with Death's help as well.

Wasn't it obvious what she wanted? She wanted a child. A girl to be precise. And they obliged... Kinda... Instead of getting a female, she got a boy with a feminine body. And seeing how someone can't get sometthing for nothing, they took her Sanity and ability to use Alchemy.
Normally this would be the end... however, Death took a liking to the Child, who was a small Kitten, basically. So, Death gave the child two gifts: The ability to do Alchemy without a circle, and control over shadows. He hoped that the child would not grow up to be someone he would regret giving the abilities to.
