There are many things that motivate a person to do terrible things upon others. There is gain of power, whether it be in the form of money, rise in class, or simply the ability to impose their will upon others. There's fame, whether they want to prove a point, let the world hear their voice, or simply make an infamous name for themselves. Or even love, whether it be deterring a rival suitor, gaining the attention of a desired one, or following the twisted ideals of a passed loved one. These only scratch the surface of reasons why people commit acts they, and everyone else may recognize as evil. Sometimes people give in and commit minor acts, or commit one horrible deed and regret it for the rest of their days. But others revel in it, learning to enjoy harming others for their own personal gain. Fortunately, there are those who put their own safety at risk to oppose those people, intent on putting an end to vile acts before the victim toll may rise any further. These people are commonly referred to as heroes, protectors of the innocent, righters of wrongs. Naturally, their opponents, these villains, are not so receptive of the interference of heroes.

That's where Charlatise comes in.

Just like most people with talents who need compensation for their efforts, Charlatise found herself with a knack for being a hunter of heroes, and puts her ability to use by working for those they oppose. Whether it be small jobs such as dealing with police forces while a gang makes their operations, taking a cut of the profits. Or large jobs, eliminating pesky 'super' heroes for lucrative sums. Charlatise is the one for the job.

What makes Charlatise so suited for such? For starters, she has her natural ability. Somehow, someway, she holds utter dominion of matters within her own body, even space itself. Even simply having a fingertip past her lips leaves one able to swiftly and effortlessly suckled into her mouth, which may be like a spacious, flesh cavern for the hapless victim. And things only become worse the further one goes. Her innards may be presented as normal, or even become a maze-like labyrinth, or her intestines may shape themselves around a victim into an endless loop, it seems like the limit is Charlatise's imagination as far as fates that may be in store for those trapped within her.

Furthermore, she has her suit, the SIMULaCRUM (Specialized Illusion Maker Using Light and Character Recording Unit Modification) a type of stealth suit based on an old, stolen design which capable of amazing is able to project a disguise around herself using hard light, creating a disguise which feels, moves, and even sounds authentic, or even cloak the user completely if the need arises. The normal suit models only have a few different profiles that they can project over the wearer, a conundrum solved with an added module designed for Charlatise that allows the suit to record a profile of all those she digests while wearing it, creating a near limitless library of new disguises. Additionally, the suit has been further modified by Phantelle with a hodgepodge of helpful functionality such as sticky, wall-climbing grips, adrenaline pump, and the ability to erect a thin, skin-tight energy barrier around the user.

Of course, the suit has its limits. You think Charlatise can just mimic any person, turn invisible at will, and shield against all sorts of troubles? Think again. First off, everything is dependent on a limited power supply, which requires recharge back at home, and even then all the suit's functions have their own limits as well, listed below.

The disguise function is very effective and highly refined, for the most part. On a full suit charge, it can hold most disguises for up to sixteen hours under ideal conditions. Additional battery drain rate is imposed upon larger, more elaborate disguises. Or even disguises smaller than the user, as a cloak field around the exposed parts must be maintained at the same time. Furthermore, the tactile feedback of the hard light must also be maintained, as the user is touched by others, or interacts with objects, the battery drains even faster. A sudden, solid blow may also short out the disguise altogether. With a large, constant interaction disguise, the battery may last as low as four hours. The suit is also only able to erect human-like disguises, built for emulate human skin, hair, and clothes. In a pinch, it can also emulate the look and feel of small non-human features, such as ears, tail, and wings, they aren't perfect, though, anything further is right out.

The cloaking ability is iffy at best, draining the battery extremely quickly, leaving it only able to function for an hour at the very most. It can also only maintain perfect invisibility at a complete standstill, with distortions being visible as the user moves, their intensity depending on speed. This also applies to disguises requiring application of cloak as well, for instance, a user running with the disguise of a small child active will have distortions shaped like the user around it.

Finally, the shielding module, an addition by Phantelle, it erects a skin-tight energy barrier around the user, designed to protect from all sorts of elements. It's ideal for hazards such as corrosive or caustic environments, harmful gases, extreme temperatures, and electric shocks, neutralizing the former two, and insulating the latter. The more extreme the hazard, the faster the battery drain as well. Despite its ability against certain threats, it has next to no effect on physical damage, which is only impeded slightly. It cannot be used alongside the cloak or disguise ability as well.

With these tools, alongside a wealth of talent in information gathering, interrogation, infiltration, diversion, trickery, and of course, elimination. Charlatise has become quite the notorious figure among the hero community, reports of her location usually being followed by vanishing heroes, and of course, quite a lot of innocents as well, everybody has their vices and guilty pleasures, you know.
