Catherine was a regular girl until one fateful halloween. Late as usual, she didn't start looking for a costume until a couple of days beforehand... Desperately browsing the internet, shop after shop sold out of every costume. Every shop but one. Try as she might, thinking back, she can't quite remember the URL - as much as she'd like to. The only item left in stock was the cape pictured to the left...

"Supergirl cape. Guarenteed to impress and amaze all your friends with this unique piece. You'll hardly recognise yourself! Flame retardent. Please note: The retailer bears no liability for incidental damage arising from careless misuse of our products. Buy now for instant delivery!"

Out of desperation, she bought it - half a costume! Maybe she could cut eye holes in it and go as a ghost or something? Mere seconds after the credit card transaction processed a package dropped through the mail slot in her front door...Coincidence? Apparently not. She tore the wrapper open and, lo and behold, it was her cape. Shimmering, red, the fabric almost crackling with some bizzare energy. Swallowing nervously she slipped it on. And never looked back.

Catherine is a regular girl with a very irregular cape. After putting it on, her clothing transformed in a flash, leaving her dressed as pictured. It grants her the following abilities:

Enhanced strength - Catherine's strength now exceeds that of any other unehanced human by some margin, but is fairly average on the superheroine scale. She might toss a car around without thinking too much about it, but anything heavier is likely to pose difficulties.
Enhanced speed - Again, Catherine can move much faster than regular individuals but truly heroic feats (dodging bullets, for example) are likely to push her limits.
Flight - As with speed, quick but only for short periods.

As an all-round good, if rather ditzy individual, she's chosen to set herself up as something of a superheroine. General do-goodery. Her previous life is all but forgotten, the cape's influence being rather addictive. It does have one downside...

Enchanced metabolism - All of the above doesn't come without a hefty price. Being a superheroine is hard and above all hungry work. On occasion, particularly dastardly criminals will find themselves on the menu rather than in prison. The cape, and by extension the rest of Catherine's outfit, is quite capable of ensnaring and absorbing whoever she choses, in addition to making her body rather stretchy and pliable when she desires.

Seperate her from her cape, of course, and she's just a regular girl. This isn't likely to happen without a fight.
