Physical Description: Caspian Charles DeLacey stands at 5’8”, with wavy blond hair reaching down to just below his eyes in the front, brushed to the left in a lazy swoop. A pair of big round glasses rests on the bridge of his childlike nose, over his bright and curious sky blue eyes. A scar runs across his face, from above the right eyebrow, through the eye, across the tip of his nose, and through the left half of his soft lips. He has a slim but powerful build, made for running, climbing, swimming, and, when necessary, fighting. There are bandages wrapped around his left palm. He wears the simple clothes of a travelling merchant, along with a dull blue traveller’s cloak, faded and bleached by the sun, and torn near the bottom from wear. A bright blue scarf is draped around his neck, the fabric soft yet firm, clearly well cared for.
Background: Caspian Charles DeLacey was born into poverty on the outskirts of a big city in the land of Cortaxia, the son of Lucius and Desdemona DeLacey. When Caspian was only a few months old, his mother became very ill and died, leaving Lucius to raise their son on his own. He did a decent job of it, and by the time Caspian was four, he was as happy as a child could be in such poverty, helping his father however he could with his work. Often, just seeing the merchant holding his son was enough to sway the hearts of customers and get them to purchase his wares.
One day, as Caspian was wandering the streets of the city, he saw a man and woman throw something into the streets and go back inside. Caspian had been told by his father that the man and woman living in that house were Mr. and Mrs. MarDoctii, one of the wealthier families in the city. Lucius had told him that they were bad people, who only cared about themselves, and their son, Peterson, who was only a little older than Caspian. He waited until they had went inside and closed the door, then went to look at what they had thrown out... It was a baby girl, wrapped in a white cloth. A locket was tucked away within the cloth, engraved with the name Grace Susanna MarDoctii... They had thrown out their own infant daughter like a piece of garbage!
Looking around to see if anyone else was coming, Caspian took the baby in his arms and brought her to Lucius.
Words cannot describe the surprise on the merchant’s face when his son came home holding a baby. After Caspian explained what happened, Lucius decided that the best thing they could do would be to keep her, and raise her as part of their family.
This is how Caspian met Grace, his soon-to-be little sister.
Over the years, Caspian and Grace grew close. They weren’t just siblings. They were best friends, nigh inseparable. Every day, every gane, every fight, every little moment spent together strengthened their bond. In Caspian’s eyes, Grace was the best, weirdest, coolest little sister he could ever have.
Having Caspian AND Grace around actually really helped Lucius’s business, and he was able to do much more trading and selling, even acquiring a few feral dragons!
When he was 14, and Grace was 10, Grace was devoured by one of those feral dragons. Lucius and Caspian were heartbroken. Caspian had just lost his sister, his best friend... That is, until a few seconds later, when she reappeared in front of them!
That was the day Caspian learned that Grace is a Chaos Blood...
From that day forward, Grace was often out in the wilds, gathering more dangerous materials for Lucius’s wares... Caspian missed her when she wasn’t around, so he distracted himself by focusing on sales, trying to become a good merchant like his father.
...Then, a few years later, came a terrible day... The government of Cortaxia had just outlawed Chaos Bloods, which meant that Grace wasn’t safe there anymore. In order to protect Grace’s freedom, Caspian helped her escape Cortaxia, with Lucius giving Grace a bright red scarf, the scarf once worn by Desdemona, as a parting gift... When Jervil the court jester attacked Grace and stabbed her in the eye, Caspian felt a primal rage burning inside of him, and, without even thinking about it, he body slammed Jervil, who was considerably older and stronger than him, off of his sister.
Once they were out of the country, they had their last conversation, and, with one last farewell hug, they went their separate ways, Grace going into the great unknown, Caspian going back to Cortaxia to continue his work with his father...
About a year later, Lucius began to grow ill. He had been working as a merchant for decades, and it was finally starting to wear his body down... a few months later... Lucius died...
Caspian was devastated. He had lost the only family he ever knew... He was all alone...
...Well... Almost... He happened to notice a framed picture on the bedside table. It was a picture of Lucius, Caspian, and Grace...
A few weeks later, after his father’s funeral, with nothing left to hold him back, Caspian packed up his belongings, and, with the blue scarf once worn by his father, he set out into the world to find Grace...
Over the past year, he has travelled the world, writing about his adventures as he searched for his missing sister... He even had his first journal published, and it became a huge success!
