Race/Background

Carrie is a Husk, more specifically, a type of Husk known as an 'Elvish Remnant'. For a quick lore primer on Husks, click de button below!

Do you know how Husks came to be? They were once elves...

(no, seriously.)

According to Carrie: "We were cursed a buncha centuries ago cause the Elemental Lord of Fire was jealous of how happy my ancestors were! So he turned them all into flammable, sightless quadruped monsters and it really sucked! They called them Husks, and for a while, that was it, no more elves!"

"Buuut, a couple centuries ago, the curse started wearing off, and 'humanoid' elf-like Husks started being born, which is what I am! Now we coexist with the smaller, four-legged husks and everything's kind of not bad! But uhhh, don't worry, I'm not flammable! None of the elvish remnants are. ...That's what they call the more elf-like husks, like me! Anywaaay, I'll shut up and you can rub my tummy, ok?~"

Additional Notes:

Husks of both varieties live in tribes, with the majority of them occupying Ancestor Isle (or Kal'Ra as they call it), a large, lush, subtropical island in Central Imperium.

They worship the Elemental Lord of Earth and as such are able to tap into Earth Magic to manipulate rocks and such.

They don't have much mana to speak of, but this is made up for by their solid magic-resistance, strong immune systems, and most notably, superhuman physical strength, the latter of which makes them unparalleled pugilists, among other things.

They also possess powerful, fast, and hardy digestive systems which are notable in that they process food into rocks rather than poop. So yeah, they poop rocks! Also, they can and frequently do eat rocks as well! Just not each-other's rocks. That's a little too weird for them.

Because of all they've been through, Husks value tradition and close-knit communal bonds. They are a highly insular culture, especially those who live on Ancestor Isle, a place non-Husks, non-Elementals are usually not permitted to visit.

Though they are ultimately wary of all outsiders, most Husks are peaceful by nature. They believe in being loyal to those who earn it, and treat those around them with what they believe to be honour and integrity. Sustainability, modesty, and altruism are other qualities that Husks value highly.

Carrie was exiled from Ancestor Isle (her home) a few years ago due to circumstances she would prefer not to get into... but she's still very loyal to her family and her people, and carries their values with her wherever she goes! F-for the most part, anyway...
