Caligulove

A lot of meaning goes into a name...

Caligulove.

A contradiction in the widest respects, a song, and the name of a very particular creator. Broken down, we see that the name is composed of the words 'Caligula' and 'Love'.

Of course Caligula and love are no where near synonymous with one another, indicating that perhaps it counts as a hollow love, or a hidden heart behind a tyrant; hence contradiction. furthermore the name can be broken down to 'cal' and 'love' as if to reflect the individual's intense desire to be loved and liked. the fact of its symbolism as a song reflects the character's (my) own obsession with music, coming full circle to the concept of 'Caligula' being the ancient roman emperor whom of which was over indulgent in art, furthering even more and extending to his extremes of hedonism and penchant for gluttonizing in the arts. Giving rise to questions of flexing morality and indulgence. Hedonism itself is a staple of the Mod scene in ages past, reflected in the character's appearance.

So yes, When I choose a name, I make sure there's meaning to it.

-Appearence-
Caligulove comes robed in a a fine Italian suit with matching black boots. His entire wardrobe is classically styled, shifting from day to day from a red and white duality palate, to an arguably flat-yet-stark (not to mention his favorite) black and white. Forgoing most jewelry however, finding it gaudy for a man to wear, he simply sticks to a few personal items like a silver cane & cuff clips and his ever present pipe and Lennon-esque sunglasses. with his wavy black hair, he cuts a very slick neuvo mod appearance. Occasionally you will see him with an odd ripple of black to his form that fades rapidly. This is due to him being somewhat made of a strange kind of ink. A medium for thought transfer at its most quintessential I suppose. Though, if I would have gone with charcoal, things would have been a whole lot more messy, and no one would like that.

-Ink Properties-
Yes he's 'made' from ink. In that way he can draw with a finger, morph himself, and stretch. When he creates something, it becomes real. I suppose ink made reality?

His entire power is based in simply Art and the renderance of thought as a physical structure to be molded. He can use this power offensively giving enemies and allies different arms, drawing wounds on them, and reshaping them. none of such is not out of his range of do.

CONCERNING THE CURIOUS FATE OF THE FALLEN, BOOGIEMEN
At some point or another, all immortals must confront their own ability to remain in existence. For those of divinity, the source of their life and continued immortality comes at the cost of Mana, the lifes blood of the universe. All living sentient things give off this energy. some say its the primordial psychic stew from which the race of creators and gods have sprung from, but no one is certain. The one thing that is certain however is the pernicious NEED for divinities to consume this energy. normally given through worship and sacrifice, this mana is enough to sustain even minor gods for long periods. its the source of the miracles and magic they wrought-- but when a god falls from prominence and worship, the being is left to fend for themselves. able to derive some small sustenance from items and food created with great love and care by mortals, they can prolong their lives until new worshipers are gained. but in the case in which they no longer can keep up with such, things turn much darker. Mana tainted by fear, anger, or pain is a poison most pure to those divine; the ingestion of such tainting them forever. Called 'The Fall' by most, when mana is stolen from the living unwillingly it transforms the divinity into The Fallen, horrible beasts of endless thirst and madness, their desire for more driving them on in their attacking of mortals. Many times in history these creatures have been mistaken for demons, ghosts, undead, and various other beasts of the night. Despite the twisting process of The Fall, a small percentage of the divinities that taint will retain their minds. its an agonizing process, but it can be done. These Fallen become what are called 'Boogiemen', monsters capable of controlling their lust for mana-- subsisting on the fear and pain of mortals without having to outright mindlessly kill them. Granted make no mistake on their natures, they will happily suck someone dry if so inclined. They just happen to be more intelligent than the usual beasts of the dark.

In the case of Caligulove, when his partner Emm was destroyed for her transgressions to the rules that govern divinities and creators, he gave up on existence. No longer sustaining himself on mana, the man degenerated. his body wracked with the pain of the fall, it was his fury at those mortals and the powers that be that held his mind solid in those agonizing months. when at last he re-emerged from the wreckage of his former existence, he had become a boogieman. Not quite a divinity, and not quite a Fallen, something in between. No one is quite sure what purpose still drives him forward and fending off falling further, but the man persists.

A POCKET REALITY, GODS OWN REALM:
As a creator, Caligulove has the innate gift of his own pocket of reality separate to this one. much like a twisted dreamscape, the inkrealm (as he calls it) exists as a plane full of contradictions and optical illusions made real. It once was a more vibrant and happy place similar to Alice's own Wonderland, but since his fall into becoming a boogieman, the realm has become dark and dangerous. take caution when traveling this land. nothing is what it seems and the world would like to do nothing more than strip you of your life.
