CATALYST

Codename: CATALYST
Project: HARVEST
Host information: CLASSIFIED
Status: UNSTABLE
Threat level: ALPHA
Whereabouts: AT LARGE
Encounter protocol: TERMINATE

Progress notes: Codename CATALYST has been successfully prepared for its role in Project HARVEST to the projected specifications (within 3% acceptable margins). It possesses superior genetic absorption capabilities and initial testing suggests that memory transfer is at least partially successful. Knowledge recognition trials produced positive results in 85% of tests, but further study will be needed to confirm. All other common factors of the process are present and accounted for, with the exception of infectivity, which has been greatly reduced for an unknown reason. As this does not affect the ability of Codename CATALYST to fulfill its role, it has not been researched as of yet, but samples have been isolated for future examination to determine the cause.

Update: Subject developed an immunity to the sedatives used to keep her compliant during testing, despite the alternating regiment. Total faculty casualties currently estimated at 21, the count made difficult by the absence of remains. Perimeter has been secured and recovery teams dispatched with instructions to incapacitate subject if possible.

Update 2: Codename CATALYST has eluded recapture and caused extensive property damage and loss of personnel through previously unobserved abilities. Subject appears to be able to utilize absorbed biomass to craft spontaneous massive biological alterations to her body in order to meet environmental and situational requirements. Advising aerial units to maintain a safe distance and engage at range. Subject is to be returned ASAP, alive or otherwise.

Update 3: Subject has eluded recovery teams. Recommending initiation of Project FIREBREAK immediately. Civilian casualties will be greater with extended freedom, collateral damage is deemed acceptable.

Update 4: She's gone. God help us now...

Theory
Imagine, if you will, the perfect human being. Many have strove for just such a thing, often through brutal and oppressive methods. Just look at the horrendous results of those who sought such a goal, among them Ernst Haeckel, Adolf Hitler, and Hisomu Nagai in recent history, but tracing back to the Greek city-state of Sparta. Even if the end goal is an admirable one, the actions taken to reach such a result (genocide, sterilization, isolationism) often involve the mass violation of human rights in the blind pursuance of 'racial purity.' As it turns out, the every such effort has been inherently flawed from a scientific standpoint as well as a social and ethical one.

Imagine, if you can, a completely alien perspective, one that is wholly objective and devoid of the biases of humanity. From that point, imagine the perfect creature, the perfect being. Does it walk erect on two legs, possess two arms and a bundle of sensory and interaction organs riding on top? No, of course not- why should it? Only human hubris insists that perfection can be reached through the honing of man's genetic composition. In reality, when evolution is unleashed on an utterly massive scale and inconceivably rapid rate with all limitations removed, mankind is by no means the most efficient creature.

Practice
With the horrible events of World War II fading from the collective memory, governments began to quietly fund and experiment with genetic manipulation. Things started small, isolating genes responsible for certain traits, slowly mapping out the human code. Want to see what your baby will look like when it's born? Now possible thanks to your helpful government. The next step was obvious: if the genes were now legible, why not scratch some out and write in new ones? Want to ensure your offspring never suffer from those irritating allergies you have? Just a small fee and you'll never have to deal with your kid sniffling through Spring!

Humans weren't the only ones being tweaked and fiddled with either. Animals that had yet to experience thousands of years of domestication were now being born docile and friendly to humans. Livestock produced more food faster than ever before with even less input. And a variety of diseases were cured by using custom-tailored viruses delivering precision treatments rather than the inaccurate broad-spectrum approaches used in the past to carpet-bomb a person's body until the problem went away. It isn't hard to imagine the kind of positive response the public would have for all this meddling, and both world governments and the scientific community worked very hard to keep less than positive results hidden from the prying eye of the press to ensure that sensationalism didn't interfere with progress.

Result
Needless to say, something went wrong. Not everything is meant to be seen by the public, and in this new age of scientific advancement, the gene race filled the void that the nuclear race had left ever since its completion on August 6th, 1945. Naturally the attempt to build the perfect supersoldier wouldn't be broadcast or covered, kept a secret from the other nations that were chasing the very same goal, so the world at large was unaware of just how far the rabbit hole went for this latest pursuit of mankind.

That is, until the whole thing blew wide open and super viruses the likes of which mankind has never seen before spread throughout the population. It started in small towns, which were quick to be destroyed by fire, but in creating nice and cooperative viruses that were able to spread their theoretically beneficial effects to everyone with little effort or chance for rejection, scientists had created humanity's worst nightmare should something go wrong. And go wrong it did, in the form of one simple mislabeled petri dish. Long hours and tedious work took their toll, and Patient 0 was injected with an experimental, rapidly mutating, biology rewriting monster of a virus. By the time symptoms showed up, it was far too late to stop it, and town after town fell to it. Travelers and tourists carried it further, even as villages went up in smoke to bombs dropped from high above behind them, but by the time they were coughing and running fevers, the ones who had escaped had already managed to pass on their deadly passenger.

Of the people exposed to the virus, some died, some appeared to be immune, and many, many others changed... The constantly shifting nature of it meant that no one seemed to experience the exact same symptoms or alterations, but a common factor among those suffering is a radical personality change, an increase in violent behavior, and physical mutations and deformities. As one can imagine, nearly all civilization came to a halt as societies collapsed. Only a few people were left untouched, and some were affected far, far more than others, whether by chance or government involvement. OOC Info
If you read this far... congratulations! If you didn't, that's alright too; this is the important part. So what am I looking for in an RP? That's really hard to narrow down! I'm a big fan of character interaction and relationship building, be it romance or friendship or a rivalry. I'd love an RP to explore CATALYST's human side as much as I'd like one murdering a whole bunch of people and wreaking havoc. If you want to include vore that's fine with me, but it'd probably be best to either make it NPC vore, or do something special like a memory/mental transfer in which your character stays 'alive' or at least aware inside of mine and they could interact or converse that way, or possibly even have your character be reformed out of CATALYST's biomass as an exact replica of their former self, and they can either be exactly like they were or with changes to their personality or memories and whatnot. Otherwise, the scene would be over very fast and be pretty meaningless, unless it's at the end of an extended fight scene or something. That could be pretty cool...

Anyway, I'm open to a whole lot of stuff, so please don't hesitate to message me with questions or ideas!
