Brunnhilde was once born into a royal family of unknown name in a faraway and secluded corner of the world. She was an overly small baby and never cried, leading to believe she was a stillborn untill she first squirmed around.

Growing up, Brunnhilde was raised as a true princess in an house of only brothers. However she didn't agree to this treatment, usually trading her dresses for clothes or armor she nicked from her brothers or cutting her hair short in secret. Surprisingly enough, nobody seemed to be able to catch her doing so, it just happened one day or the other.

However, since the family lived in such a faraway place, it was a family on the decline. Having finally birthed a daughter into the bloodline, a marriage was already arranged with a prince of the wealthiest family further away who was born around the same time. Brunnhilde herself was never told about this up to the day of the ceremony, giving her little choice in the matter.

Though the young princess had different plans and showed up to the ceremony in a set of armor she crafted herself instead of the arranged dress. She still walked as calmly as ever up to the altar and for the first time in her life she spoke.

I will not marry a complete stranger.

Consequences could be expected from this action and a war broke out because of this grave sign of disrespect. The small kingdom standing little chance against the giant empire but Brunnhilde was on the frontline herself fighting valiantly.

Valiant as may be, she was still young. She was no match to battle against the veteran soldiers and was eventually forced to flee, wanting to take her family with them but they refused to come along.

Nobody has ever really had the nerve to ask the silent warrior what happened after that, but nobody either knows about any trace of a kingdom in the described location. Or they simply refuse to admit it..

Brunnhilde herself just roams the world now, moving from place to place to perform odd jobs for money to live from and otherwise scavenging a life together.
