Brea Kefas is perhaps the most popular girl at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute despite not being one of the students enrolled there. You see, Brea is part of the staff, but she's not a teacher either. She's one of the ingredients. In a world where folk often eat other folk it's rather difficult to train chefs to prepare sentient foodstuffs, it’s hard to find anyone who’s willing to be repeatedly prepared as a main dish. That's where Brea comes in.

From a young age the tiger girl was fascinated by the idea of others getting eaten, and she was often scolded at the dinner table for “playing” with her food. Often she’d spend hours after eating just listening to her stomach groan and feeling her meal move around inside of her. She’d wonder what it would be like, being someone’s meal like that. As she grew older it became something of an obsession. It came to a head when she was 22. After a night of drinking with some friends she was moved by the plight of an acquaintance of hers enrolled in the Culinary Institute. It seemed that if they didn’t come up with a spectacular dish of some sort for their final project they were sure to flunk out. Inebriated as she was, Brea volunteered herself. While the student in question did eventually flunk out (they really were an awful chef), Brea was a hit. She was offered a position in the Institute’s pantry and was more than happy to accept.

It’s a pretty easy gig. Every few days she reports to one of the classes as an ingredient, or even just to answer questions the students may have. True she does end up in a student’s stomach more often than not, but the Institute has a great healthcare program.
