Betsy
Another entry in the Grimoire.
There's world that humans refuse to see. A world that they've spent ages trying to hide, to wall up and board away.
The supernatural exists, but most people refuse to see it. Of course, it gets quite a bit harder when a floating bit of the supernatural
is staring you in the eye. Betsy, as it happens, is a living, breathing bit of supernatural. A fae. Known, in some circles as a fairy,
or a sidhe.
As a spirit of nature, Betsy is given a 'domain', a place she is supposed to protect. However, as a fairly minor spirit, she isn't
given anything impressive like a forest or grove. No, her domain is a lovely little patch of flowers in the depths of the forest,
far from human interest. Her patch of flowers doesn't need much protecting, as it's well within the protection of a far more
powerful spirit. And so, Betsy, who is more specifically known as a pixie, began to wander, and to explore.
Betsy, which is short for Betsilandisidhe, stands a perfectly shaped three inches tall. In all senses, she appears to be a
normally shaped woman, albeit on a far smaller scale. Lush, unnaturally bright crimson hair trails down along her shoulder,
slightly curly and the color of fresh roses. An elegantly slender neck leads to similarly slim shoulders,
and down along what would be called an 'athletic' frame, if it were larger. Even were she what humans call a normal height,
she'd be petite, light framed.
The last, and perhaps most interesting things about her are those that mark her, besides her size, as inhuman.
A set of glittering, gossamer wings jut from her shoulder blades, fluttering lightly.
When seen in the right light, they shine like gemstones. In addition to her wings, the pixie possesses a pair of antennae,
which are mostly hidden by the unruly tangle of her red hair, and a soft red glow, which she seems to exude from her entire body,
and makes her quite noticeable in low-light situations.
Fae, in general, and pixies in specific, are magical. The entirety of their body pulses with magic, is made and filled with magic.
Because of this, they are capable of things that boggle the mind of those that watch. Flight is an obvious, if unsurprising example.
Betsy's unique makeup allows her to do things that literally defy the laws of physics. She can lift things hundreds of times
her own weight, can shrink others to her size, and, though she does it rarely, can grow to the scale of a human.
Perhaps most worryingly, though, is her capability to force anything that catches her fancy past her lips and down her throat.
Rocks, bugs, flowers. Animals, people, trees. Perhaps more, perhaps bigger, although she's never tried, and such huge things
tend to not taste very good anyway. She never shows the faintest hint of what's inside her, and is capable of breaking
whatever she eats down into it's component energies, using them to fuel herself. Though, she also is capable of -not-
breaking the contents of her stomach down, and instead storing things within her, or passing them all the way through without worry.
Besides the ability to consume physical forms, Betsy can, with the magical power of a contract, take things of a more abstract nature.
Things like memories, emotions, height, weight, eye-color, appearance and age can all be fodder for a deal with the pixie. In addition,
once she's taken these things, they're hers forever, meaning she can use them much as someone would items of clothes or possessions!
Strictures of the Fae:
-Betsy must, if asked three times, tell the truth. She will not be happy if forced to do this against her will.
-Betsy goes by the name she does for a reason. Her full name has mystical power over her, and someone in possession of it,
able to say it correctly, would be able to control her as thoroughly as if she had made a contract to be their slave
with them, albeit against her will.
-Betsy is vulnerable, as a fae, to cold iron. She will avoid it quite obviously, and is able to be injured by it.
-As a fae, Betsy has a bit of a weakness for deal-making. She has a small bit of power that she can give out, grant to others.
Control of a mortal, gifts of power, and possibly just shiny, pretty things may all earn a favor from her.
-Human morals and values mean very little to the pixie. While she can profess to understand, she won't feel constrained
by human concepts of good and evil, and is mostly driven by what will amuse and entertain her.
